Ghostbusters?!

Went for a walk this morning, saw this chap - thought he was one of the Ghostbusters for a minute with this backpack arrangement.
Turns out it's an electric leaf blower. I guess that's better than the 2 stroke monstrosities.

Super cool.

California has passed a law banning ICE gardening/landscaping tools. The emissions from them are greater than from road vehicles due to the lack of exhausts etc. Just the evaporating spilt fuel is enormous.

Interestingly, the payback time for the leccy versions is extremely short, sometimes just a month or so, due to the fuel savings, especially the 2 stroke oil, and the time needed to service ICE tools, and clean air filters etc.. And think of the reduction in noise!

Then add in BEV transport like a pick up truck or van, trailer for lawnmower(s) with V2L (vehicle to load) and swappable battery packs for the tools.

Win, win, wins all round.
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

As a 14 year old summer council jobber..

I used to have to drag 5 litres of petrol round with me for the strimmer (stihl) the spark for these was often knacked, filters had to be cleaned in a splash of petrol  & in terms of balance a petrol can meant walking distance back & forth a lot, I used to dream of li-batt strimmers.

In terms of noise, a lot safer for the user not just the environment, staying alert whilst no outside sound beyond the machinery itself was a devil.

No H&S as such, & luckily I was a teen with a bit more nous than some (farm work) so didn't get the dressing downs & ridicule of the others.
