I found this today which is a perfect small scale solution to power my existing Turkish home Turktelecom router (12V 1A) to save on grid power or if the power goes off. :ugeek:

£2.69 22%OFF | USB Boost Converter DC 5V to 9V 12V USB Step-up Converter Cable + 3.5x1.35mm Connecter For Power Supply/Charger/Power Converter
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mL7b2lw

I also have the mobile data loadable Turkcell WiFi hotspot.

Also bought an utterly naff USB desktop fan too.
£4.01 35%OFF | Mini USB Desk Fan Desktop Adjustable Tilt Stand Cooling Fan Ultra-quiet Electric Portable Small Fan for Desktop Office Table
https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0wuBZq

The 5V kingdom grows. Currently flattening the errant reading battery. This may take some time(which was the whole point)! 8-)

Aye? good to hear. It seems that there is a whole series of small practical gear out there in a usb range that makes grid damn broke life a lot more fun. I think I'll try all six usb desklamps and the battery brick lights tonight together.

Just found this too for android phones. Pulling 600mA from the panel directly.

This wee soundbar is belting out Ziggy Stardust. Lights are looking good. Best thing is that the battery pack running the soundbar was last charged February when we were out for No1's eye surgery. Great to see a literally throwaway wee unit bought passing through a supermarket in the 3rd aisle.

I must have been aware at some level that Nowty would be updating the secret list of generation soon. What an update too!. :D

I say aware as it clicked into place earlier this morning that I didn't.know what my mobile Turkish battery storage added up to. I think this was triggered by a 10,000mAh a while ago charged unit boosting Bowie's voice last night.

Anyway, onsite here we have
3x60,000 mAh power brick
1x27,000 mAh power brick
1x10,000 mAh power brick

217,000mAh power stored which equates to 1.085kWh of stored energy!

My mind then tripped off on the 236W of mobile PV generation I have independently of the Scottish home.

That led me onto the 36Ah @ 18V(0.68kWh) (cheers BTB) Multi-tool battery packs, the 185Ah @ 12V(2.22kWh) of LA leisure batteries all the way down to the 20+ 2,600mAh 1.5V batteries in AA & AAA format.

This isn't a bid to get the small scale mobile stuff onto the list as its already pretty busy but instead just sharing my new awareness of how many small scale energy storage units you can have knocking in your life doing the wee tasks quietly and well. In my case they add up to about 4kWh stealth storage and another 250W of PV generation if i include my solar lighting back home, slightly surprised at that! :D :ugeek:

Even more so if I flip it on its head slightly and say 'yeah, got a wee offgrid system, 250W of panels and 4kWh storage'.

Clucking Bell, WTF! I'm now proud of that!

Had a swatch at last week's grid consumption. Blew it a little on Saturday due to the 5 minute granularity of comms units feedback and thus effective control from here in Turkey and let's not forget the ever-changing momentary Scottish weather. :D

In saying that, HWT volume managed to get No1 son across a couple of lower average generation days and HWT is topped out again.

Call it 4kWh at 40p so £1.60 excl SC. On t'other side of ledger we've got 150kWh from WT1 (£40) and about 130kWh from the paying FIT system (£10). All rounded down apart from the £1.60. That's some pretty excellent £50ness into the VB. :) in a week.

Hazelnut shells used to feed a biomass unit running a bakery. I keep meaning to take a photo. We buy our ekmek there each morning.

Hold that fabled bus once more!

Down the Migros today and thought 'nah that's got to be 230V' when I saw it on a lower shelf. Imagine the joy when I saw usb on the box! :D

65tl(£2.73), single speed and it blowing a nice breeze across me as I lie on the couch reading a book. Quiet in operation. It's been on since 12.00 as has a table lamp and charging from a big brick to a wee brick. Big brick is sticking resolutely at 5% soc.

With the fan, I'll have a nice visual of when it finally flattens. Two days so far, trying hard to run this battery down!

I think there were three others on the shelf. I'll nip down.later on and collect. Will be great in the Bongo too. 8-)

A quick run up of the fan straight from the PV and it's pulling 0.33A only. Wee things like this make me very happy indeed.
