This doesn't give me any pleasure sharing this piece of news - hopefully it's not the wheels falling off. They're one of the good guys in this industry it seems to me.

Re: Myenergi layoffs
I feel that they may have expanded too quickly. Hopefully they can sort themselves out and continue. They do seem like a decent company.
Then they need to REALLY look at their aesthetics. I ended up with a hypervolt purely based on looks. I'm sure may others have done the same.

Re: Myenergi layoffs
It does imply that in the reporting - they had such an order backlog that they appear to have overhired to clear those and simultaneously some overseas markets haven't grown as expected. (wonder if Brexit has anything to do with that...)

Re: Myenergi layoffs
The Zappi was a technological masterpiece in a world of dumb charging points. Chris Horne did an amazing job. However the market has moved. All charging points are now "smart", lots work with solar, and critically the Zappi design looks dated and ugly in a market where consumers are increasingly choosing charging points based on looks. Having Octopus Inteligent integration "coming soon" for such and inexcusable length of time has been a disaster.
The Libbi battery storage device was probably the last nail in the MyEnergi coffin. They basically slapped their logo on an existing KSTAR unit and ramped up the price. You can't do that in a market as price-sensitive as the battery-storage market. While no one expected MyEnergi to make the cells (KASTAR use CATL cells IIRC), they should've designed the control tech and made it have some value-add features to justify the premium price.
All this has a "management consultancy" smell about it. I've seen these charlatans send a few small businesses to the wall. The hallmarks are all the same: Ignore product quality and features, rely on slick marketing, don't bother with product innovation, pay the invoice while you still have cashflow to do so.

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Re: Myenergi layoffs
The Zappi and Eddi are both great devices.
I didn't realise the Octopus integration still wasn't working.
I quite like the visual design of the Zappi so beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I guess with no real battery supplychain in the UK I can understand the thinking behind re-branding an existing battery system but as you say unless you can add a large amount of extra functionality and usability then it's an approach that comes with danger. It's not as if other UK-grown battery system companies like PowerVault have done much better though. The domestic battery market seems to be either "Tesla PowerWall" or "DIY" and not much else in between.
I just hope the wheels don't all fall off for them - they're good people and it's a home-grown UK company fighting in a global market.

Re: Myenergi layoffs
Part of their problem is mot having a proper booking system for repairs / replacements till recently.
And that explained the second hand market on the likes of ebay.
Due to a generous policy & CS Myenergi were not ensuring pick up / return in a timely manner of faulty units they'd sent out replacements for, ..CS wer e happy to advise on possible faults & fixes (gentlemen all) which meant folk such as I were checking S/no's & finding out history on them as a possible purchase, this would eat into time & money that myenergi weren't seeing themselves, all the cost, none of the return, no re-working, no selling of graded units because a second hand market evolved around them..
The sales office needs a bloody good shake up (said as much on the phone).
Cancelled jobs also meant fitters were selling units on ebay brand new.. this happens all the time.
I love the my energi brand as a good british firm, they need immediate change though to get through this.

Re: Myenergi layoffs
DIY as much as possible seems to be best in the solar arena - there seems to be a general change of "players" in the market every two to three years so warranties etc seem to be less meaningful than hands on experience of installing, maintaining and fixing your own stuff.

Re: Myenergi layoffs
My myenergi gear was expensive and feature stagnant since I got it, now sits unused.
The base designs also left alot to be desired. IMO having LED flicker in a 2021 device is unacceptable.
They were unresponsive to improvement on the forums.
Not surprised.
