38m Barge, …

Not on the UK canal system, presumably?!

Welcome. Looking forward to some new topics or alternative comments.

Thanks for the warm welcome,

@Joe, I'm afraid I don't have experience of micro woodstoves, we need to heat 38mx5m.. I did however make my own stove out of a 47Kg gas bottle, and experimented with my own 'clean air wash' over the porthole door and secondary combustion air injection, (Sounds more impressive than it is  ) it's currently gathering dust in the corner now as we're moored too close to flats for a woodburner. Maybe check out the narrowboat type forums.. lots of people with experience there.

@Oliver, Yes there aren't many options for boats our size, we don't fit through the locks so we're on tidal waters.

No worries Al, been watching a few Alaskan tv shows and as in 1st year of retirement I quite fancy time in our log cabin. Give Swmbo & myself space around Feb!

I'd like to see a pic of you gas bottle stove if time allows at some point? No worries if not.

What do you want the stove for, Joe ? (OK, burning wood and producing heat  )

A 4x4m log cabin (say 3m to roof apex) is a reasonable volume - sort of 4kW to heat ?

There’s some belting small stoves out there - particularly if you wanted to cook/boil a kettle. Come at a price though.

Should start a thread for this question really. Maybe Mod can shift the posts?

I looked into this years ago when I built my 2.4x2.4m "shed" (garden office). Was thinking of getting one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164314245112

But in the end it'd have been too much faff sorting out the chimney exting the shed and too much space would have been taken up so I didn't bother. Now have a storage heater...
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

New thread is a good option - probably a question that’ll reoccur.
