I like the creativity! Did you see Jamie up at KH grooving on the blade shape? I reckon he's going a wee bit native. Big beard and 'check out the flow man'.

The rain has arrived and is washing away my solar artworks.
On the other hand I wont need to clean them.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Mine finally got a shower yesterday, not the deluge I was hoping for though as they definitely needed a clean -only 1.4kW from a 2kW system Sadly the garden hose barely splashes the bottom row so I have to wait for mother nature.
Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Stig,
Don't know if this would help. I don't really like going up the ladder to clean the panels unless I have to. With this in mind I bought a sleek wee jet spray in France and coupled it with an expanding hose. The hose acts as a bladder accumulator as it expands when under pressure and when nozzle is opened it throws a jet of water remarkably far.
Our house is 1.5 storey at the top panels and I can clean them standing on a 4 step stepladder and aiming upwards. The expanding hose I use is only a 25mtr one. I imagine the longer the hose the greater the stored energy and more effective the clean? Maybe even a little more throw?

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Hmm, that looks interesting, thanks Joe. Like you, I'm not keen on ladders, and only have a stepladder. I already have a (rather ancient) pressure washer but the outer part of the hose is falling off in bits -I did try using it last year but the spray didn't seem to go any higher than just with the garden hose. I wonder if that expanding hose would do the trick. From what I can see from ground level I think the panels need a good scrub, I did get a window cleaning company to have a go but after a bit they gave up with their soft brush on a long pole/hose gadget and refunded my money.
Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I know these hoses do come in longer lengths. As I was typing earlier I wondered if it would be an idea to basket coil one and use it as an energy store for the purpose. My outside taps are fed from 15mm copper branches so are limited in through volume. I reckon one of these hoses fed from a 22mm branch would be mighty!Stig wrote: ↑Mon Jun 12, 2023 4:36 pm Hmm, that looks interesting, thanks Joe. Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I've been up on the roof today cleaning my panels and emptying the crud from my gutters.
I use a Via Ferrata harness and clip onto some metalwork for safety. Today I've also been using a climbing rope I recently bought with an abseiling attachment. I can now practically hang off the edge of my roof.
