Same here, unbelievably good, Stack is back to full by 2pm most days and the rest spills to the grid to try and keep the scabby coal and Gas plants off - although from Dan and Nowtys thread that doesn't seem to be too successful but at least its contributing to a better fuel mix

On the subject of spilling back to the grid, how exactly does that work from a technical perspective?
I assume due to the voltage conversion at the local substation that little to no excess makes it onto the HV distribution network.
Does that mean that the increased voltage coming from my connection to the substation (due to exporting) is redistributed back out to other houses consuming from the substation? As a result, is export from my PV installation purely limited to my immediate substation consumers?
I'm sure I'm grossly oversimplifying but I'm sure there's some real experts on this forum who can provide real details.

Imagine you have a 12V lead-acid battery, if you want to charge it you apply a higher voltage (eg 13.8V or 14.4V), well the grid is similar except for the complication of alternating current. It is simple to apply power to the grid or take power from it.
Transformers work in both directions too, although it is more likely that the power you inject will be used by other consumers on your local 11kV transformer thus reducing the amount of power flowing from the grid to the transformer.

As I have no EV, no hot water cylinder / heat pump etc, I'm embracing the export - especially now that I'm on Octopus Outgoing - 15p/kWh instead of the previous 5p/kWh with SoEnergy
