Sentencing thoughts?

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Lucky there were no back seat passengers - that's where the front tyre appears to land after bouncing up.

Mind you, they don't just need idiot drivers to be dangerous:- when i moved here i did some silage trailer driving for one of the local contractors, driving the big deep-green with yellow wheels tractor brand.
One of the other drivers had a short circuit on his main battery cable and blew the main fuse - the engine cut out of course as they all use ECUs now, so he lost the power steering and power assissed brakes - if you think it's difficult to brake or steer a normal car without the power assist, try stopping a big tractor with 9 tons of silage behind. In fact I'm not sure if the brakes work at all - the driver didn't seem to think so.

More worrying though is that the tractor has a 6 speed manual gearbox coupled to a 4 speed close ratio semi-auto box. It turns out that without electrical power the semi-auto box disengages, so you have no engine braking, and IIRC, the parking brake on that tractor was the sort where you use the footbrake and press a button to engage parking brake.

All the driver could do was coast across a crossroads (fortunately a quiet one) and hit a stone gatepost and earthbank which stopped the tractor.

Only thing that saved his life was being at the American airforce base and the car being a left hooker. Sill very lucky to walk away from it.
