Maybe it's not for Europe...Volkswagen confirmed that it is in talks with Tesla to adopt the NACS connector for its electric vehicles in North America.
The news comes after Electrify America, which was founded by Volkswagen, announced the adoption of NACS.
Over the last month, Tesla managed to convince virtually all major American automakers to switch to its newly opened connector standard: NACS.

The list of companies switching to NACS is sooooooo long now.
VW are funny, they are 'evaluating' the decision .... as oppossed to what, shooting themselves in both feet?
Most companies will provide adaptors to customers with CCS ports. That also means that Tesla won't now have to convert so many of their chargers to 'magic dock'. The magic dock has an adaptor in the unit with their charger already plugged into it, and if your car needs it, the adaptor stays attached to the charger. If not, it stays in the main unit, and only the NACS comes out.
One slightly odd thing, is that most press releases from companies refer to having access to ~12,000 Tesla superchargers in the US, in 2024, but there are actually about 19,000 now (and growing ~33% pa), so the deal(s) may not be for all SC stations, or all chargers at each SC location?

Can the NACS be used to V2G ? The CHAD can but CCS seems to be difficult. Dont know why one can and one not.

I seem to recall V2G was in the CCS standard timetabled for something like 2024 with commercial CCS VTG chargers coming in at 2025 at the earliest.

The problems with the Tesla connector are:
1) Can’t do 3-phase.
2) Can’t do V2G.
3) Limited to 500V
Tesla have a new design that solves no 3 and is backwards compatible with the old connector but Tesla will have to replace all of their existing Superchargers to roll it out.
As I’ve said before: living through a format war is horrible for consumers. At least we settled on CCS early.

For those, like me, who did not know, NACS = North American Charging Standard.
I don't think that we shall see much of this in the UK or Europe and it hardly matters if there are different plugs and sockets on either side of the Atlantic.

Are we sure about that? I’ve seen several reports that there’s actually a bidirectional power converter in the model 3 and Y - in which case those Tesla models could achieve V2X with appropriate software and external controller.
