Not so Flaming July
Not so Flaming July
It seems we are having May or June weather in July this year.
Its a bit unsettled, but there is still enough sun to see us through from day to day.
A2A HP unit has been switched from cooling to heating and I'm boosting storage heaters with the small solar surplus.
Forecast looks to continue the unsettled theme well into July.

Re: Not so Flaming July
Overcast with bright patches here today but sufficient to charge the batteries to 100& and run the house and presently charging (type1) the car a bit.
Much fresher air and notably cooler in the wind, on the plus side the risk of grass and moorland fires locally has reduced significantly.
Glass half full and all that ..............

Re: Not so Flaming July
We seem to be running dreich or full on rain most days but there's a reasonably consistent rally about 16.00 to 17.00 hrs and the batteries get a belt of late power. Even on those poor days (all of July so far) we are more than getting through.
Admittedly, the easy pass of Batteries, EV & HWT all getting a full charge has faded for the moment. As Moxi alluded to 'Silver Lining'.
In our case that's Ho Fat laundry and the WBS getting all Swiss army knife like for a couple of hours in evening. If it was easy, they'd have got someone else to do it!

Re: Not so Flaming July
Forecast for today was rain. In the end we had a smattering of rain, one flash of lightning, four peals of thunder and 50+kWh of power on the home arrays!
So much so that the EV is full and I've been batch cooking later in the day in a quasi futile attempt to keep in front of Yon Solar Tsunami. Outstanding!
Jings it's just popped out again!

Re: Not so Flaming July
Production all over the place here.
Friday 35.2, Sunday 27.4, today 11.2. Playing havoc with the attempt to play the Flux export game, but barely touching the grid except for the inverter speed issues. 211kWh for the month, so if this carries on be at about 80% pvgis.
That said, I made a fiver last week from Flux, accounting for gas and leccy import and standing charges.

I’m not sure I’ll beat April here, is this usual? First year with panelsnowty wrote: ↑Wed Jul 05, 2023 3:37 pm It seems we are having May or June weather in July this year.

Re: Not so Flaming July
No Yuff its quite unusual, up here in North Wales its been like late autumn some of the days, yesterday we have 30mph winds with gusts hitting 50mph local to the cottage and the rain was heavy and persistent!!!! We managed to drag in around 6kWh.
Today its heavy overcast cloud and breezy with the forecast suggesting some sunshine later followed by a thunder storm- fingers crossed theres more sun and less boom - temperature around 14 degrees.

Re: Not so Flaming July
I can't complain too much - it's not keeping up with June (27kWh/day), but I'm still on 22kWh/day, which is ahead of PVGIS (19.5kWh/day)

Re: Not so Flaming July
20 & 21 April beat July for me. It does happen. Don't stress on it as regardless of monthly variation on an annual comparison my main system is within a couple of hundred kWhs each full year. It tends to even out.Yuff wrote: ↑Tue Jul 11, 2023 8:14 amI’m not sure I’ll beat April here, is this usual?
