There have been comments at local council meetings but they have been dismissed as everything complies with regs. Many of the newer buildings still have balconies but not necessarily timber ones, think stainless handrails and uprights with black or brown panels so an ideal fit for solar panels where they would be effectively invisible. On forays into UK cities in recent years a lot of high rise balconies exposed for years are now strung with privacy shading, done well this will offer them a bit of windproofing as well (for all the positives & negatives it may bring)
Chris, how soon before councils deem balcony solar "too much" detracting from traditional balconies & likened to black posterboards? ..or do the local councils (seeing seasons with open eyes & understanding seasonal incomes from it) drive it forward?
I couldn't believe my friend who installs panels has a balcony like this without panels on a house he built himself (he does have panels on the roof East / West but the roof angle is shallow so makes nothing in winter).
