Couldn't help myself. Made up and mounted the first three porch roof brackets from workshed stores. A good bit of clanky heating, sledgehammer and grinder work to get them into the right sort of shape. Hope to get the 4th mounted tomorrow and maybe the 1st panel. Just great fun!

I might just do that Gus. Once the inverter unit arrives and proves strong I'll get into it. If not I've seen low rated Solis inverters single string for not too much money. Logically I'd extend to Turkish place if it all works out. At a rough estimate based on our local voltage in Scotland I see 2kW for 10A so on its very best day and all aligning well I'd see 4A incoming. Double that up if I ran 4 panels and it's 8A. It will be hooked into a 13A circuit.

No1 is paying 37.41p per kWh in daytime (on E7). If I put this up for £500 then it will be break even in 1.336MWh generated and used onsite.

I expect the system to generate around 600kWh pa. Paid for itself in 2.2 yrs. That's no bad if the inverter does the business as expected.

Just throwing that into the ring for thought.

It’s big bang for your buck, and a smaller system will naturally have a larger proportion of generated energy used onsite.

The first panel is on. No chance of getting this done myself. So glad No1 was there to help the old guy. Found a trick, hold the panel in place through its bolt holes with copper wire. Let's it rest on blocks and gives a couple of inches movement for the drilling and the plenty swearing!.

It is just resting in place in the photo. I'll show it fixed in place later.

Thank you, it was a bit of a pig as doing 4 brackets gor a single panel doesn't feel like the best use of time during the work. Q even more swearing and singing wee songs to distract myself!

It's in now and voltage has been great to sit and watch fluctuating as the sun dips in & out.

Amazing how it literally did a shrink to fit when it went up, looks quite petite now.

I am over the moon with this as its such a stark 'well why wouldn't you moment"?

I suspect we are too biased. I love the look of PV, second only to the majesty of large wind turbines.

At least you got the weather for it. Been windy and peeing down all day here. Still, good for the Ripple WT.
