July Generation 2023
July Generation 2023
Nowty Towers Power Station
Main 4kW PV system generated 432 kWh which is 23% below baseline and my worst July ever in 12 years. But the solar's loss is the wind's gain.
Total PV arrays generated 1186 kWh.
Electric Import was 4 kWh.
Gas import was 23 kWh.
Out of house EV charging was 82 kWh.
Petrol used in EV hybrid was 0 kWh.
Total imported energy use 109 kWh
PV electric export was 212 kWh.
Ripple GF wind farm generated 850 kWh which is a staggering 115% above baseline.
Total energy offset 1062 kWh
Net energy import for Nowty Towers Minus 923 kWh
2023 (cumulative) Net Energy Import 913 kWh

Re: July Generation 2023
Awful month in the midlands.
591kWh, from 6.4kWp system (south facing). 79% PVGIS expected. Smart meter fitted in June so new figures for July: 286.28kWh exported, 17.27kWh imported (7.37 imported overnight as system exercise, would not normally have imported but export figures would be lower by the same amount).
Gas use: 219.54kWh, entirely for hot water for baths and showers

Re: July Generation 2023
OK, sounds like I was lucky to exceed my PVGIS target for the month - 632kWh vs 605 target.
Not so sure that August will be the case, looking at the past few days plus the forecast for the next couple of weeks!

Re: July Generation 2023
A much cloudier and wetter month but more than enough solar to cover usage. Ended up at 96% PV contribution and about 13kWh import over the month. That would have been less but for a battery issue at the very start of July.
Overall, sitting at 75% PV contribution and net 386kWh export for year to date.
I should have enough export this month on top, making it likely I'll be grid negative for overall electricity usage at the end of 2023. Just got to get DHW and central heating off gas...

You need some batteries Dan !
Re: July Generation 2023
I don't disagree! Was easy to make the financial case for the solar from projections of generation, consumption and imported electricity costs.
The (financial) case for the battery needed some real-world data, which we're now amassing.
The tricky question to answer is "what size is big enough for the lowest purchase (and install) cost".
Maybe next year!
