Wood cabin woodstove suggestions

Must admit, I do like our Clearview Pioneer (Ovenstove variety) it just does what it’s supposed to, without any fuss. Lighting is a dream - if we light it first thing, I can get it cleaned, laid and going while the kettle’s boiling (gas hob).

Easy enough to keep clean too.

Think it’d be a bit hot for Joe, though. Second hand ones keep their value pretty well also.

In a previous life, one of our members recommended using sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), not much, dissolved in water to clean the glass. It’s best not to get it on your fingers and to wash your hands quickly afterwords. It works instantly so that the soot can be wiped off with a wet rag. I mix a tiny tiny amount each session (half a mL in 5 mL of water) and apply with a brush but he kept a little jar pre-mixed (which could be a danger).
It’s also good for removing brake dust from alloy wheels, not that that is a problem for the Teslarati.

I’ve never had to try to hard with both our stoves (others a Woodwarm). I wipe them over once a week with a damp microfibre cloth, wiping the inside glass surface then finishing with a bit of kitchen roll.

They stay very clean, it’s just to keep everything nice.

Very reluctant using any form of chemical anywhere near them - just not the need.

Yes, and I envy you Bugtownboy, but My Clearview has a boiler and that has a profound effect on the running temperature.

I like the Hobbit stove so that's a contender too. Its a cool wee stove indeed. My hang up is efficiency as I'm now used to the extremely parsimonious nature of the Burley. Could probably let that req go as it's an occasional stove not a daily user?

Besides efficiency being a flexible feast in interpretation would being less efficient help keep the output down for what is a small space for 4kw

That is other end of the scope thinking and I get the idea I may very well head that way as rough and ready types are avavailable with single skin flue for a couple of hundred quid. Have to look at a way to isolate pipe from wall.

I thought at least one looked cracked and stove well used. To bring it back up to as new type burning efficiency would cost a few bob. I like the Morso Squirrel, watching it. Cheers!
