Balcony solar PV
Re: Balcony solar PV
You'll be needing Tinbum's oscilloscope soon.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 26MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

Re: Balcony solar PV
Once it all goes Pete Tong properly I'll ask around on the forum for he who is board level competent and maybe fancies a cash repair. This will be after I take the backplate off and look for obvious signs.
I could easily use it at my cabin down the garden with a couple of 2nd hand panels.
I want this exchange up for anyone else as daft as me. I'll likely end up with a handful of board components posted to me. Next up should be post the inverter back to us. I'll parry that and see if I can engage on a percentage refund and components sent.

Re: Balcony solar PV
WTAF thats a first.
I think you might have made a slight typo, for future hysterical reference surely.
I wouldnt have a problem per se, if it was a case of checking the fuse due to something I had done but for a clearly broken sod that.
How many people even know how to check a mosfet ffs.

Re: Balcony solar PV
The wifi unit appears to be located on the right hand side, you can see the aerial on it, I would be surprised if they have a board with and without the connectivity for the module, I'm not sure about Aliexpress but I doubt returning this is worth the headache for them, if this doesn't regain consciousness you might be able to whip out the wifi and put into another one if my supposition is correct.Joeboy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 10:42 am I had a look on Amazon and they do not stock the Hoymiles units with integrated WIFI (HMS series). They are on Ebay, just checking if the supplier shop can also supply the HMS plug & Play cable which i'll reterminate at plug end rather than doing a chop close the the unit itself. Pretty sure that would N&V any warranty!

Cable sourced on Ebay, a bit pricey but it a decent looking quality.

I'll update towards end of Sept when its all here and integrated.

Not me but I have been fascinated by Tinbum's efforts.

I hope they do too Moxi. Imagine the amount of time, effort, tooling and resources that has went into building that microinverter. The design of the app and WiFi doesn't come for free.Moxi wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2023 3:41 pm As with many things it’s often down to how good the quality control department is. Failing their diligence the next is a good customer service team.
I do hope they come through for you.
I have the itch for more panels but I know I need to tidy up the current diy systems before I get universal agreement.

My point is that so much has been done to make this excellent idea exist then it falls flat on its face due to substandard components.
End result is no repeat sales and as much negative feedback as I can spread around. How can that be a part of a decent business plan?
The bit that gets my goat is the waste of resources. I don't give a hoot for the £150. I'll use it as a learning tool instead. Sad indeed.

A German electronics you tuber doing ‘Balcony’ Solar. Well at least they call it that in Germany and it did end up on his roof.
Check out their consumer units!

A very professional approach and video. Slightly excessive for two panels only? He'll be back up there next week!
