My hoymiles inverter cable arrived today from France ordered thru Amazon uk which is great as it was not predicted to arrive until the 24th Sept or so.

Just the inverter itself, hopefully next week and we'll try round two, ding ding!

No1's microinverter showed up. We are generating!












Green flashing light on inverter every 1sec to show it operating and outputting. Away to work out the wifi, Instructions in German. We'll get panel 2 up on the wall next week once all back from Italy.

The fridge and freezer compressors hold no fear for us now (in daylight hours).

Well that's interesting. The microinverter was effortless to set up, only thing to remember is that you'll need to have the AC on before the unit will output (flashing red led and will not come back from that rather than flashing green when AC is present before making the DC connections).

I've been messing about with the app and its not straightforward as either an installer or enduser, i am stymied. The paperwork shows click through boxes that are not present in the relevant page within the app. I have contacted the supplier to see if they can set me up with an account.

TBH, my geek side would love to see the power flow and the app numbers. Doesn't matter as the important bit is...

Its working! A cracker of a day here and the outer casing is warm to the touch, not hot.

He's not exactly a heavy user as I get him to use our place when we are away. Over 29 days he's used an average of 23 peak kWhs peak and 16 units offpeak kWh.

0.79kWh peak per day
0.55kWh offpeak per day

He is in Italy for a few days so interested to see what the meters say on his return.

I can honestly say now that I've been through it and felt/seen both inverters that the Hoymiles is the one to go for. Its a completely different beast in terms of weight, design and finish.

A bit like comparing Amstrad to B&O?

The HMS AC output lead from camshop on Amazon UK is a no brainer quality lead. Just makes it plug & play..

Well it does if like me you like a 13A fused multiplug for ease of connection onto the europlug.



I am inordinately pleased with being able to bring this result to my son. Just been back over to his place, sun is on the wane yet the green inverter light continues to flash.

The only wrinkle is the software access I guess it's a hoymiles control issue in making me/we go through an installer/supplier for registration. It kind of flies in the face of the diy install. DIY, get it Hoymiles?

Anyway, I'll update through the week once I'm reg'd and in.

That was nice to see this morning!



Had a look on Hoymiles Netherlands site as they are the European distributors for these units.

Looked at the diy WiFi section and found that supported only in Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Italy at the moment.

I've contacted offgrid tec in Germany and now Hoymiles Netherlands to see if they'll set me up with an account.

Hopefully one of them will come through.

As a coincidence I'm off to Italy tomorrow so will try and setup an account on the phone while there. The hoops we go through as early adopters! I think I'll also change out the 13A fuse in the multiplug for a 5A and let it run as it shouldn't output more than 3A.

Great to see the unit doing its silent work this morning and to help the grid out a bit.

I took a sabbatical for 6 months in 2018 (49). Did one job per year for next couple of years (Norway & Egypt) then walked away and have never regretted it. Never bored, not enough time.

I do have an awful habit of placing stuff down just a moment ago. Then burn 10 minutes hunting for it! That must be where the FIVE YEARS have went, seems like 20 minutes!
