Mercedes e-HGV does 1000km in one day

Looks like Tesla's "lead" in the e-HGV sector may well be short lived, lot least because they've only managed to make 70 of them so far.

The eActros 600 has three lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs and an installed total capacity of over 600 kWh in series production. It has two electric motors with an output of 400 kW and a peak output of over 600 kW.

In September 2022, Mercedes said it would have a range of “around 500 km” (310 miles) on a single charge. The long-haul electric truck is designed to charge from 20-80% in under 30 minutes.

720kW charging?

I've not heard of that being deployed anywhere?

You just plug into more than one charger. The tesla one for ages was just 3 plugs and sockets to get 750.

I'm really excited to start seeing electric lorries. They'll make such a dent in diesel consumption, emissions and inner city noise and air quality.

I believe there is a move to try and create a global “megacharger” standard for e-HGVs . Would be good to do so before they start being built in volume. Keeps trucks and passenger vehicles away from the same stalls if nothing else

They have no need for AC charging and (I guess) are all 800V so a simplified version of CCS would make sense. Seeing as the current CCS connector is limited to 1000V 500A then having the "beefed up" version rated at 1000V 1000A seems to make sense. All the same protocols can be reused...

I think the Tesla Megachargers are 750kW to 1,000kW. Tesla has asked for a $100m subsidy to deploy chargers along an 1,800mile corridor from California to Texas. I thought it was cheeky at first, but having proved the need for superchargers and the shift to BEV cars, I can see their point, when rolling out a national infrastructure open to all BEV trucks.
