Not been able to find another creda TSR 6 so short term added an old oil filled heater we already had that was taking up space in the loft.
I previously bought a 4 pack of smart plugs back in April so it was good to find them too, so no outlay and another heater added to the off peak consumption!
Good to read. I'm sure one will show up. I used a oil fird down in the cabin.pre WBS, brilliant!
We are still resisting the lure of the SH's. Two resistive heaters on for half hour in bedroom and ensuite bathroom at 07.00hrs. The WBS gets a feed before bed and the thermal jacket is warm to the touch in the AM (18 deg room temp this morn).
I'm pretty sure we'd have succumbed by this time last year. I think by saying to SWMBO that she says when we start them up.has made a difference .
She does like to do the telling.

SWMBO was asking how long we could run a resistive heater in the seriously cold months before flattening home stack if need be?
I made the leap from homestack to Hyundai Ioniq 5 outputting to home for resistive heating & washing machine. I think I'll genuinely try and integrate the EV output potential to the home this Winter.
A 101kWh total store of multipurpose home energy. Might as well.
I wouldn't have got there without her question, quite the engineer SWMBO is.

Had the storage on for about 2 weeks now
Didn’t have them last year, so no gas central heating in use, and with the hall storage, family storage it’s definitely warming the core of the house.
Kids rooms fluctuate from 18.5 to 20.
Hall about 19/19.5
Family room 21/22
Lounge currently 22.6 with woodburner on and door open to hall.
Been tiding the garage to get into it to get my 9x250 watt panels on soon….

I am envious, a grand adventure awaits.
We are pulling in a little over 1.2kW at the moment in the pouring rain. The difference the larger solar net makes is gratefully appreciated on a day like this.

Not looking forward to it, it’s at least 12 foot drop onto next doors concrete.
Also needs reroofed/felted first which is the biggest pain,
Fitting some rails will be a doddle compared to that
Just waiting on my mate letting me know when he can help.
No 1 son (17)wants to help but he has no experience on ladders etc and it’s not the safest training experience!

Put him on the bottom to hold the ladder when needed, pass tools etc. 3 points of contact. A lot can be taught on the ground . 12ft drop is a good motivation to not...drop. Make sure you have decent boots. Grips essential. A bucket on a rope for tools. Teach him the domino effect and to be aware of drops (tools). Everyone looks stupid with a set square embedded in their nut.

I’d second what Joe says - good time to learn good practice.
Always worth doing an informal risk assessment before you step on the ladder too - ok, basic common sense, but only when you’ve acquired the common sense.
And don’t do a job when tired/in the wrong frame of mind.
Appreciate advise, worked in engineering for along time on the tools and management also in the H&S field so know what I’m doing, just not that my son does- a low level task will be identified for him to help.
I’m bringing all 18 conductors back to a joint box, he can help fix these, terminate and test.

Genuinely appreciate the concern
No worries, I do sja's & tbt's on the spot. A big fan.of passing on the knowledge and more than that, avoiding like the plague the human failing of 'they know what I know'. Right up until they show they don't and hit the deck.
Been in the woods late afternoon, rain off with my version of No1 son treefelling, come alongs, vertical drops, much swearing but my god, the joy of walking away job done as the rain poured!
We can now see an actual swathe of sky (grey).

Unrelated I know but I was in awe. Met an old boy (87) today. He was on Christmas island for the bomb tests.
That was a first for me and very likely last. All hail Bert.
