We've already pledged not to fly again, or at least until it's FF free. No big deal I know but it's no the end of the world for us.

I thought that he had made a mistake when estimating 288 tonnes of fuel but no; at cruise a 747 uses 10/11 tonnes per hour. I dare say that it’s a lot thirstier getting up there.

Apart from those difficulties described, a 3 degree rise would - in all probability - be sufficient to trigger a thermal runaway situation.
