I'm up north now, staying with my brother in Manchester so I'm nearby in case of any emergencies. My father has been on oxygen for a couple of days but he's doing ok so they took him off it earlier today and I've been in regular telephone contact with him.

My mother took a turn for the worse at home yesterday (almost certain caught the COVID), but today she has improved.

Both my parents have had their full number of COVID vaccines although they were due the next one this week but that has now been overtaken by events.

SWMBO is telling me full battery back at home today and indoor temperatures good via my remote operation of the A2A HP's.

I’m still up north, now staying with my mum who has recovered from COVID. My father has also recovered from COVID but is still in hospital. They are starting to talk about discharging him although when visiting him today he was on oxygen and he was not very well.

Unfortunately my father did not get better, and went from bad to worse, his oxygen was turned up to max and was receiving strong intravenous antibiotics. His lung fibrosis worsened and increasing pneumonia meant it was going in the wrong direction leading to various organ failure. He was still lucid until the penultimate day but sadly he has now passed.

Sincere condolences Nowty, at least you had a chance to say your goodbyes, something I was unable to do when my father passed away from a sudden heart attack a few years back.

Cheers guys, I’ve been missing the renewable shenanigans.

Dealing with a death in the family is a new one for me and it’s now so obvious you need to sort your affairs out well in advance of checking out of this world.

Not had a minutes rest for near a week now, a million forms to fill in, and family politics to negotiate.

But I think I’m on top of things now.

Just sent the death certificate to Ripple, so we will see how that pans out, even in death there is a renewable theme.

Good to read the positivity. I've got a 'Don't panic we're just deid' letter in the safe in case we go together on a plane. I update each year with the main investment stuff. Worth doing. All the best Nowty.

I just saw this. I'm sorry for your loss Nowty.

For years there has been a bad radio on my folks breakfast table. It crackled, faded in and out and required retuning every day to get their Radio Lancashire channel. My mother had fixed a very loose ariel using a piece of elastic that came off a joint of meat and a clothes peg.

Whenever my mother suggested they get a new one, the reply from my father was, “There’s nowt wrong with it”.




As fate would have it, my knee hit the table leg the other day and the old radio fell over onto the floor and now just crackles. My mum is now the proud owner of a DAB radio and she loves it.
