Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Tesla have approved a 5kWh export rate from our Powerwall, based upon the G99 certification from DNO. I have an export MPAN too but Octopus sticking to their guns, MCS certificate or £250 admin fee to be considered for export! We didn't get an MCS certificate for our Powerwall, installer tells me there was no requirement in March 2022.

Have you not got an MCS certificate for your panels or was it DIY ?NikoV6 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:18 pm Tesla have approved a 5kWh export rate from our Powerwall, based upon the G99 certification from DNO. DIY on my panels so no certificate. However, its not my panels exporting, its the battery!nowty wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 1:13 pmHave you not got an MCS certificate for your panels or was it DIY ?NikoV6 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 12:18 pm Tesla have approved a 5kWh export rate from our Powerwall, based upon the G99 certification from DNO. Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
So the Nowty forecast is no more saving sessions 'till after Xmas?nowty wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:44 pmThere are another 9 sessions guaranteed until the end of March and maybe more if the cold, still conditions return. The weather forum folk are quite bullish about a cold winter from Xmas onwards. For the next week or two though, it looks too windy and mild.openspaceman wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:23 pm If we have more sessions it would be worth my getting an export MPAN
It took me about 7 weeks to get the export MPAN up and running, then you have to wait another 5 working days to qualify for the min number of baseline readings in your account for it to be eligible for the sessions.

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)

You can look at the wind forecasts, but an easier way is to keep an eye on this page https://bmrs.elexon.co.uk/surplus-forecast-and-margin which has the wind forecast embedded into it, if the surplus line drops to around 2000 MW its likely. But if there has not been 2 sessions in the month when you get close to month end, they might have a test session anytime.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Interesting website and charts. I switched to the three year view and see a big low for the surplus on 28 April 2025. What might cause that and the generally high inter week volatility?nowty wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 5:34 pm

And commissioning of new generating plant and interconnectors, and on the other side there is decommissioning of old plant.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
There are rumours of a short-notice Saving Session test run tomorrow. You might get less than an hour's notice.
Let's see if anything comes of it!

I'll be at my Mums today, going to have to do it remote control, will only have about 2kW net export capability.
