Project Pergola And maybe Project Fencing
Re: Project Pergola And maybe Project Fencing
Just moved my 435's from the garage to the pergola, bloody hell, they are much heavier than the existing 295's.
Just need to move the lower brackets as these panels are another .5m longer everything else should stay in situ.
Will do some photos if I get them done today, son is a lazy fecker it would seem..

Calm where you are then ? Gusting 60mph here so you could paraglide the panels into place
We have made a whopping 148 watts today.
I really should faff about with a wind teapot for a few extra watts in winter - can’t be any worse than my solar production.

Re: Project Pergola And maybe Project Fencing
New panels up, bit of a faff as we were losing light.
But all up and running, saw volts on both panels just, so just had to wait for today.
Thus far they have survived hailstones and thunderstorm, then the heaviest rain around 1am, which set off the Audi’s alarm twice which is a first. Then lots of lightening just for a finale.
At 10am they were producing over 120w each, which is a first, the panels are shaded until around midday. But there was a lot of ambient light though. So expecting great things if the sun decides to pop its head out again.
I hadn’t twigged at the time of purchase but these ones have white cell separators, no idea of the formal name. They look a little Wierd but hey ho..
I’ll grab a photo later when I get home.

Apologies if hijacking this thread - pls say if offended and i'll move it.........
Current ecogeorge pergola/free standing/ pv array has commenced.
End wall of garden is SSE facing and the only real option for pv. House roof is original and i can't afford to mess with it yet.
Already have approx 1.5kw all vertical (garage + house wall) SW facing with shading -all on individual inverters.
Last 2 days have cleared extreme ivy and clematis from wall -chipped and spread on veg patch.
Started fitting brackets today and thinking about install. Array will be approx 9m wide and 2 panels deep (1.5m x 2 = 3m portrait) . Wall is approx 3m so aiming for a 15 degree fall so can walk under array.
As array is effectively a roof has anyone any ideaes how to water proof/seal panel joints for a dry area underneath ? Fitting a membrane is a no cos need to bracket panels.

I'm increasing your annual kWh's on the secret list to 4000 for all that lot.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 27MWh generated
6 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

Re: Project Pergola And maybe Project Fencing
I am relatively simple. I'd be trying to gap the panels at about 5mm and use masking tape and black roof/gutter sealer or silicone. Likely I'd go with roof/gutter sealer for longevity.ecogeorge wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 7:40 pm Apologies if hijacking this thread - pls say if offended and i'll move it.........

There are loads of profiles to choose from. Just depends on budget I suppose?
