When we had our cats, one of them on being taken to the vet would position herself in the basket so she couldn't be tipped out, the basket could be vertical (door at the bottom) and she would be pinned to the sides. The other one just strolled out of her basket.

Thats my worry concerning mounting the panels on the porch roof, its my house but my mother in law live in it and I wouldn't want to get on her bad side by making it leak  :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight: :fight:

Not that I am scared of her or owt ...............

Terrified sums it up much better

Yes it did, but only minor on and off for a couple of years, then by magic the leak stopped by itself. If I was doing it again I might try and clamp the rails to each side of the shed so I would not need to drill through the roof.

EDIT - I recall now that it originally leaked quite badly, so I took all the panels off and added some bitumen sealing strips and tons of sealant. It still leaked a bit but then roughly 2 years later stopped leaking and it has not leaked ever since.

I used rubber seal that I cut myself from a sheet along with a liquid sealer. So far so good on the workshop.

A few years back I did a repair on a rental property garage roof. It was along a piece of roofing felt that had been bent through 90 degs and installed god knows how long ago. Actual holes had appeared. This stuff did the business.

https://www.toolstation.com/everbuild-b ... oat/p60252

I was so impressed with it that I then used it on our logcabin when I doublesheeted the roof over a layer of insulation during the build.

If I was putting PV up on a felt roof (is it)? I'd defo factor in some longterm one time only sealing as part of the project. Especially with that 'incentive' of MIL! :D

All the best to the wee cat Nowty.

The rail joining strips were an eye watering £20 each, so I had some made up via an aluminium strip seller on ebay, five strips cost me £11 and a couple of quid for the screws. :xx:

But have I cut the rail extension pieces long enough ? :?

Three panels on now, its tight, very tight, SWMBO permission was for no overlap and I told her there would be about 10cm gap. :fight:
At least I have the excuse the supplier sent the wrong panels. ;)

And for those who are more interested in the cat  , vet has phoned, all good :praise: , but its going to be a few more hours until I can pick her up.
So I can crack on. :xx:

Good to see Pussy back.

It Definitely is a Pussy Cat forum.

I have got two cracked panels charging old batteries that feed a bundle of electric trace heating elements that lay under the blankets inside the airing cupboard where one of them sleeps. I do have to turn them off in the Summer because it complains about it getting to hot.

Can the forum get a Smilies Pussy Cat thingy uploaded. :(

:cat-frown: Nice One

The last panel was a fecker !, I came close to ripping off one of the panel junction boxes against one of the rails.

But now in operational service @ 3030W max capacity, too dull to generate now  , but there is 240V coming through. :joker:
Amazing how new panels are like a mirror, won't be like that for long.
Image

Original install circa 10 years ago @ 1770W max capacity, you can probably tell the shed was almost brand new back then.

Cats gone into hiding upstairs and I'm celebrating with a cat of my own. ;)

And I've incremented my sig from 13kW to 14kW PV.
