Different things grind our gears..

I'm a millimetre man, I sometimes work with a friend in his 50's (older than me) who still measures in inches and feet.. I can't abide that in this day and age, I can sort of use both, but I like precision and simplicity, so always have to convert everything, especially if we need drawings, or whatever we're making to be professional and accurate!

I was mostly being facetious in the gear grinding vain of this thread, I've not seen anyone add an 's' on kWh to abbreviate the hour's' but maybe it's a normal?

While I get annoyed when the potentially wrong units are quoted (sometimes to try to exaggerate a point). Power quoted instead of energy for storage projects is one.

However, I don’t care of what multiplier is used - as long as it is correct and proper upper or lower case - because there are few basic SI units. Hours is not one of them - the SI unit for time is the second and 3600 seconds is not a simple power of ten value. Metres (m) is the SI unit for length, btw, not millimetres, but some units (like Pascals and Kelvin) are simply not understood by most of the public.

Now, BTUs, feet and pounds are ridiculously awkward units to manage! Being old, and living in the UK, miles per gallon is still my preferred measure of an ICE vehicle economy. Even miles/kWh for ‘lectric ones is my preference - at the moment.

Cracks me up with some of the German EVs which are based on a fossil platform where they list consumption as "kWh/h"

To convert between these, you can use the following:

1 kW = 1,000 W
1 MW = 1,000 kW
1 GW = 1,000 MW
