Immersun Noisy Fan

#1

Post by kendo »

Hello! looking for some help please with an Immersun unit. Does anyone know where i can get a replacement fan from ? It is 50mm x 50mm x 15mm.
Its getting very noisy and would like to replace the fan before it fails and potentially damages the unit (which has lasted well considering a friend replaced a 5v psu within it in 2019 !)

You should be able to get one from RS, but you could do with getting a little more detail. If you take the fan off you should fin a label in he centre with a little luck, that should give you the full spec, including voltage, power and amout of air it moves. A quick check on RS shows plenty of options.

Could you get a drop of thin oil onto the bearing ?? Had a noisy fan on my gas boiler (semie siezed) a drop of wd 40 cured it. Still running 14 mths later .

Light machine oil is the thing, 3in1 would be preferable to WD40

My first question would be whether bearing was changeable. Chinese bearings/lubrication is not the best. Also use a proper machine oil, not 3-in-one , as that leaves a sticky residue over time.

Thanks everyone who has replied. I had time today to remove the fan fully, which as suggested revealed its info sticker :

I will have a google and see what it comes up with.
Thanks again.

Remove the white front housing and let it run for a while. I think you will find the fan is not necessary for heat dissipation. Replace the front housing with a lattice guard that allows free airflow.
