Insulating Timber Garage
Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Cheers
Left it switched on to see if it generated anything while I’m at work, hopefully not burnt the place down!

Re: Insulating Timber Garage
By the way it looks like your inverter has a Sunny Beam transmitter card in it. Thats not much use to you as I believe its only use is for Sunny Beam display. Example of the card below.

But you could probably swap it out for a bluetooth card if you can find one and use Sunny Explorer software to change settings. Example of one here but its out of stock.

18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 27MWh generated

Yes I did a bit of a research at lunch time too.
I’m not much interested in the beam display, or a Bluetooth card happy that it’s contributing now to the house hold energy consumption.
Inspiration came from this forum!
Thanks to all

Congratulations, breathe out!
For the forum, what price a 2nd hand sunnyboy and what ye got hooked into it? I absolutely love a Steptoe system, my fave thing.

I paid £100 on eBay a few years ago, just checked 2 available at the moment for under £100 that included the postage.
Next PV project is to replace the single 250watt panel on the summer house to a 500W+ version!

Re: Insulating Timber Garage
I love that older tech can still get it done.

Down to 243 VDC and still generating
Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Agreed. I have a Sunnyboy 2500 installed in March 2010. 14 years old and still going strong. Powered by 2.1kWp Sanyo/Panasonic panels.
Now hooked up to 10kWh of Pylontechs for a month and I am fast learning how to tweak the Solis inverter to optimiser things
Re: Insulating Timber Garage
Nice one John, I bought a few Sharp 210W panels, I don't know their age but they were 3rd hand when I got them. Truth to tell I wish I'd bought more. The appreciation kicked in later when I was cleaning them pre install, top engineering build rather than mass produced bonded edge. I like to see that, the Sanyo/Panasonic name. Japanese panels before the full rise of China. I'd hope they are still producing meaningful volumes of power in their 50th year. Any idea how old your panels are?
Don't get me wrong, I get the benefits of better efficiency and mass production but I do geek out a little a la vinyl v's cd vibe. What can ye say?
