It seems the application for a CFD for the bank funded portion (circa 30%) was rejected on application for some sort of non-qualification issue and ripple are appealing for it to go forward.
UPDATE
I now note in the latest coop committee mtg minutes for KH the appeal for the non-qualification of a CFD has been successful and they will now be putting in a bid for the bank funded portion of KH.

For the Borg mind.

"Going forward, the turbines will all be running most of the time, but it won't be uncommon for one or more to be offline - this is normal for any windfarm and has been factored into the production projections for the site. Reasons can include;

- Scheduled maintenance, normally performed a few times a year

- Breakdowns, which happen with any type of equipment; with the maintenance contract we have with Enercon, they are incentivised to carry out timely repairs

- 'Cable untwist' mode; the nacelles on top of the turbine rotate automatically to face into the wind, but over time this can cause the power cables running from the nacelle down the tower to become twisted. After a certain number of twists, the turbine will automatically turn off and 'untwist' by rotating the nacelle the other way, before restarting production again.

- Bat protection mode; when there is a very particular combination of a certain time of day, time of year, wind speed and temperature, during which bats are more likely to be foraging and flying high above the ground, the turbines automatically turn off to protect them. This only happens in low wind conditions anyway so the production losses are minimal.

- Too little wind; below a certain wind speed, the turbines will stop turning. They only need a very gentle wind to start producing though.

- Too much wind; in severe storms, the turbines might have to shut down, but this is uncommon - these are very robust turbines that can perform in gales.

- Icing; if sensors detect a build-up of ice on the blades then they will turn off for safety reasons, until a visual inspection of the blades is carried out to confirm the ice has melted. Thanks to the coastal location of Kirk Hill and the effect of the Gulf Stream, we don't expect this to be an issue here."

We left out 6.30am Sunday, so to be in good time for the open day up at Kirk Hill. 450 miles, two top ups and ten hours later saw us arrive in Falkirk for the start of our 3 night stay. After the dual and treble carraigeways of the A1 then, for me the highlight was the drive up the A68 from north of Newcastle to Edinburgh where the RWD TM3's road holding was superb as we travelled the almost roller coaster terrain at times. Well, as someone from the flat lands of East Anglia it seemed almost that extreme.
A trip to the Falls of Clyde and Bonnington Hydro today was of equal measure with dips and peaks a plenty in the company of graceful Turbines looking so elegant in the summer sunshine. Up at Bonnongton Weir we came across a contribution from Ipswich based Ransome & Rapier with cast nameplates dated 1926. The company is long gone now of course being finally bought out by Robert Maxwell, the paper magnet prior to his demise. A colleague I later worked with, who had for many years, been employed by R & R retold with anger the tale of that man raiding the employees pension fund leaving it empty and the staff with no company pension.
Probably another day at the Falls tomorrow before heading off, via Pitlochry, to Inverness for eight days exploring further highland scenery and Hydro Power projects both complete and still under consideration.

Ship tracking for the first 36,000 panels of the total of 67,000 panels for DW.
https://www.vesselfinder.com/?imo=9839210

Ripple have confirmed they are JAM72D42-620/LB
They are these 620W JA bi facial panels in this range,
https://www.jasolar.com/uploadfile/2023 ... 509768.pdf

So thats 67,000 x 620W = 41.54MW + whatever the bi facial underside generates. :xx:

Planning permission was for up to 42MW

Called in on way up and what a delightful setting too. Afraid we didn't contribute much to the local economy, just a pound twenty for an hours parking to have a wander and then 50p each to the attendent to when visiting the loo. How quaint. Well catered for with Chargers with a couple of Swarco engineers working on one of them.
Carried on to Pitlochry and tried spending some cash with CPS via the convenient chargers in the cp but failed even though talking to one of their agents. Spent two or three hours wandering around enjoying whats on offer, both refreshment and education wise. Bought another copy of Edward MacColl's biography to give to son Kevin.
Had planned to charge once in Inverness but thinking of it driving along became concerned that, by then being very low and with CPS being less than convincing I'd pull in somewhere to see if on the offchance their might be Tesla supercharger anywhere enroute.
What a coincidence there was one within half a mile. I'd pulled over near Aviemore so took advantage of one of the four in situ there. Aren't they brilliant no faffing around just plug in and away it goes. :)

Capacity factor graphs for July,

Graig Fatha was just 3% under baseline and a repeat of last years July is unlikely to happen again in a hurry.
Image

Kirk Hill was 23% under baseline, I don't think there is anything wrong.
There was still some maintenance going on and it was just not windy as normal up there from following the forecasts.
