Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
Email just in to me, another 1pm to 2pm slot tomorrow Sunday 18th.
Looks like you don't have to opt in for the session if you already were in the last one.
Its going to be a tough one though with full sun tomorrow down here, there will be 10kW+ coming in to fight against , but Nowty Towers likes a challenge .
Plenty of headroom in the EV though and I need 100% battery by Monday morning as I am off to London to see daughter and family off to start a new life in Switzerland.

Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
Actually, it would be illogical for export to give a negative baseline, is usage itself gives a negative basline (ie we are told that we will pay for normal usage,we only get "free" energy above that). If anything, export should give a positive baseline and we get paid more (but I doubt that they want to give us free money).nowty wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 11:36 am Yesterdays free power hour here was 19.557 kWh.
My import baseline should be zero, so if export is not taken into account I should receive a credit of 19.557 x 23.71 = £4.63
If export is being included in the baseline, thus giving me a negative baseline then the credit is likely to be nearer £6

We are both correct just thinking about it in a different way.Krill wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 12:00 pmActually, it would be illogical for export to give a negative baseline, is usage itself gives a negative basline (ie we are told that we will pay for normal usage,we only get "free" energy above that). Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
Just realised my supplementary battery charger is on the same DC cable as my DC Solar charge controllers and I never expected them to run simultaneously.
So its possible to approach 100A with both together, I could not remember the fuse rating, I thought it was 80A but luckily its 100A. There is a possibility of breaking my combined DC charge / discharge peak Amps record tomorrow once I've added on the Amps from the Sunny Island charger.
Peak DC Amps record at Nowty Towers Its currently 201A in discharge mode,
Tomorrow may break that DC Amps record in charge mode if its full sun during the power hour.

I am still getting my head around buying for X amount then selling back for 2xx amount plus a penny.

Re: Octopus Free Power Hours
By the end of the month I think Nowty Towers will have exported more in 2024 than imported. With the current rates I only need to export half of my import for all of my energy to be free.
And thats not counting FITs, Ripple projects, saving sessions or power hours.
Smart Meter has never lost any data yet.
