Solis inverter users

Is anyone else having spurious issues with their Solis inverter today? I noticed earlier that it stopped charging the batteries at around 1 pm, not a big issue as the weather here today is mediocre so I assumed there wasn’t sufficient light to get over the base load of the house, then at tea time there was a momentary flicker of the house lights and the boiler cycled at which point the inverter began charging the batteries off the grid ?

Tried a couple of resets but now it’s isolated and having a rest to see if it is something to do with a solis update??

Just wondering if anyone had anything similar happening today

Really odd, the solis started to charge the batteries from the grid after a while so as it was late last night I disconnected the grid, switched off the inverter and powered down the batteries. Tried again this morning restarted the batts, and engaged the grid, the inverter connected and straight away started to ramp up the charge to the batteries to 3.2kW. I wondered if the recent electrical work to plumb in the induction cooker had resulted in the CT's getting switched around so I checked that the meter was on the live incoming tail, and the solar was on the live for the solar incoming which they were so I disconnected both of these to see if the inverter would stop but it didn't. I also checked the consumption was still set to self use again it is still ok,

Battery is currently at 43% solar insolation is around 700Wp so with everything being normal it should be charging the batteries at around 4W but it is drawing from the grid 3.2kW and discharging around 300W ??

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions please?

I assume no scheduling is enabled?
If you go into the information menu, what are the values shown on each of the pages?
10x 405W JA Solar panels (4.05kWp) @ 5 degrees
3x 405W Longi panels (1.22kWp) @ 90 degrees
16.5kWh DIY LifePo4 battery
Solis inverter/charger
0.6kW Ripple WT
64kWh Kia E-Niro

Hi Mr Pablo,

Nope, no schedules set, its just set up for self use and has been a bit odd now and again since the new cooker was fitted just over a week ago but with the weather being so atrocious I hadn't really seen anything massively strange until these first few days of September which has been much nicer.

Battery discharges to 20% SoC then goes offline, when the battery drops to 18% the BMS charges it up to 22% before disengaging again.

At lunch time I had another look in the daylight and I think that the CT clamp wires where switched between the clamps at some point, this was backed up to some extent by the meter that controls the Solis giving some odd figures compared with the insolation conditions, which have gone completely again now I have started to investigate - hill fog has descended. So I have switched the wires over and although I cannot speak for charging of the batteries due to a lack of sunshine I can say that the display looks more like normal now and the battery discharge is behaving as though its load following the house load much closer than before. ie the insolation is bringing in around 279W at the minute and the house is almost dormant with an estimated background draw of around 280W to 300W, the Solis display is showing a discharge of 0.04W and the grid input is 0.08W.

Hopefully when the insolation improves at some point I will see some charging activity - not much else I can actually switch off to tray and get background under the measly insolation levels at the moment.

I just realised that I forgot to ask which Solis inverter you have!

Its the no frills but generally reliable RAI-3K-48ES-5G AC linked system - the light is still atrocious here but theres now some sensible charge figures inbound in the form of a steady 441W charging from a total solar generation of 680W so I feel like I have stumbled on the answer - obviously need more time to be sure but I am feeling optimistic.

update: over an hour later and despite marginal insolation the system seems to be settled switching between low power discharge and charge as normal so I am feeling more confident.
