Same panel but a shot up the yard, slate tip in the background, eventually a ASHP will be going where the propane bottles are presently, my remaining 100WP mobile panel with 40kg of ballast in the box is positioned for the morning sun before being rolled back to face south till 3 pm when it gets spun around to capture west insolation - despite all the ballast this panel is routinely found dace down in anything above 40mph, I suspect down draft from southerlies slamming in to the gable end wall cause this. Its on my list of panels to fix down somewhere but the mobility it has presently makes it a really useful contributor way beyond its diminutive Wp rating.

Another position where I was thinking of doing something, I need to consider height here so that I dont get in the way of the view for the wife or my neighbour but I had thought about something partially over the chickens to give them shelter - I would need to work around the cable stay for the telegraph pole that slices up my garden. Otherwise the green storage could be replaced with a system using panels as cladding and gabions as walls /ballast. The corrugated plastic store nearest my handsome (ahem) shadow is the feed store for the chuks and could also become a slightly larger walk in style store with two 30 degree south facing panels for a roof maybe ?

This could be a promising place for more panels but not sure, there's a 1 meter ish wide path that leads from one garden in front of the elevated drive for the cars and behind the bunker to the lower garden, its never used and I wondered about vertical west faced panels in landscape as I can concrete posts in to the breeze block drive retaining wall to mount them ?

This and the next photo are the back (WSW) and South side of the bunker which could have 1 or two portrait vertical panels each Its just a case of figuring out how to tie them back to the weight and structure of the bunker.

This is the last photo, grass shows how much rain we have had, its been four weeks since I was able to mow it and despite two dry days its still sodden due to its length and the dew rich mornings we are now getting.

Long term plan is a lean to glass house along the stone wall to the LHS of the photo with a full length PV panel roof, 26 degree east pitch and 45 degree west pitch to the ground one layer of polycarb to admit light and see the view and then PV panels below - the idea being to grow food plants inside a warmer dryer and less windy place to extend the very limited growing season we currently get.

Before that the end of the Garden needs the fence line reinstating and the next door neighbours bramble cut and controlled, hes a sheep farmer so I think a single row of posts to 3ft out of the ground, galve wire stock mesh afixed , then inboard of that a second series of 4 ft proud posts with cross members fixed to allow around 2 to 2.5kWP of panels to be fixed in a SSW orientation at around 45 degrees pitch.

Well the 275 Wp panel looks like it will sit atop the to hand wood shed, I will get some suitable corrugated panel fixings ordered and prepare a series of props to keep the right angle in windy weather. On really windy days it can be closed completely or latched at a five degree pitch. On a calm day it can go to around 70 degrees to catch the evening sunshine.

I think I would use Unistrut vertically at the corners (in about 100-150mm), mark where you want the fixings and use chemical anchor to bond threaded rod into the blockwork, further Unistrut horizontally as required.

Anyhoo, this was the position that I wanted to put the 4 panels in portrait vertically, it used to be where the (too)mobile array was placed until the wind got under it and repositioned the frame and panels one dark and stormy night. Its got a 400 static at present at 45 degrees and it does a good job, the 45 degree angle and 1114mm hypotenuse means the panel only just creeps on to the play area for the lads so it was deemed ok. The problem is from around October the panel will be shaded from the perimeter walls and a non negotiable tree from noon onwards, hence the elevated panel idea and a vertical position to make the most from winter conditions and provide more space for people using the paved area.

It may just have to stay as that for the time being.

Just an update on this location which I have started to transition to a two panel installation at height to avoid winter shading - as noted elsewhere I managed to start this just before the back end of the Florida hurricane blew through last night so it was a bit flexible in the 60 odd mph winds but it survived and the next few days are set fair so the last gabion will be filled and a central support and tie bar installed to make it more robust. Happy to say the bin store panel which was directly into the easterly was rock solid !
