Charge No 33 at Reims, be staying our final 2 nights here in the home of Champagne.

Setting storage heaters for the next two cheap slots to take the chill off Nowty Towers. Weather looks terrible on Sunday so will need to return with low battery to get some extra cheap slots on the IOG.

Maybe also pop into Michel Gonet’s as he had a 97 or 98 Parker’s point champagne to try the last time we were here. But it was a very special one off vintage.

One of our neighbours in the Correze invited us over for lunch.

We had foie gras and champagne.

They were very apologetic about the champagne. Their nephew made it just for himself, friends and family.

His vineyard allegedly butted up to Dom Perignon.

I’be never had a lot of champagne, but here was no way they had to apologise about this one.

We were here on a proper weekend tour circa 10 years ago by a very knowledgeable host.

We learned that the best champagne’s by small growers are never sold and ONLY kept for family and friends.

Tasting no 2 of 3 different brands including a very rare one made with 7 grape varieties which I thought was not allowed but it’s ok if grown in the champagne area. All were exceptional especially the 7 variety one.
