I've just checked a few bills and it was generally around the 15p/kWh each month on tracker tariff.

I’ve used 27000 kWh at a total cost of £515 so far this year…….

The posters really on it are in profit, but I have as much solar as I can fit and SWMBO won’t let me do a nowty snd turn our reasonable sized garden into a solar farm

It's probably cost me about £1250 in the year since we had the EV cos I stayed on the tracker tariff instead of going straight to Intelligent Octopus Go. Got the car in October 2023.

I gather the octopus app doesn't show you the cost of usage when on IOG?

Only way of checking cost is when you get your monthly bill then?

No its recently had an upgrade, you first get an estimate based on the standard IOG tariff times, but then it updates with the extra slots of discounted tariff within a couple of days.

So you no longer need to wait till your bill arrives to verify if your shenanigans experimentations have worked or not.

I had a look at that post, but doesn't seem to show on mine. I swapped over to IOG on the 24th October and it still shows the "we can't estimate.... " Message when I click on cost.

The IOG app seems to have been updated and taken away the pretty Octopus graphics.

But its still gameable.

Sorry if this seems dim but: how do we find out what the schedule is?

Don’t panic! A minor change to settings to force it to generate a new schedule and we are all good.

Looks like a UI update rather than any change in functionality.

Behind the scenes, the scheduling is now completely different.

In the most expensive half hour slot I now see lots of little "mini slots" of energy like 0.13kWh, 1.2kWh, 0.35kWh starting and stopping at per-minute intervals, and the scheduling is a lot more dynamic overall. The couple of charges I've done overnight have changed quite markedly during the night.

I have some Home Assistant screenshots but it's all unformatted yaml. Can post these if you want, otherwise I'll try to format that card for future screen grabs.

I don’t get any of that. I alway set it an impossible target eg give it 8hrs to do a charge that would take 10hrs in order to get guaranteed cheap period.
