ASHP & triple glazing
Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Thanks Stinsy, we'll try and do the hw overnight and early hours (before 05.30) ramp up a little on the desired temperature. I understand that will.limit the SCOP a little as i'll be working it in colder outdoor environment. SWMBO is well in with the tou stuff. Strangely we'll have more power capacity since we won't be running the SH's.
TBH, it's all very strange in thought.and my last 15 or so.posts have in.part been me reinforcing what I know to myself plus all the smashing stuff you guys have supplied. I feel like I've been fast forwarded (in a good way). Cheers guys!

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
That's the bill in for the month (32 days) we've been here. 188kWh bought for 350tl. I like that sort of bill! Includes both HP's running and whatever the small array supplied.
That's £7.96 total with an average kWh cost of 4.23p

The price we pay for energy in the UK is a scandal!

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
It certainly is. The more I think about it the more I think self generation is the very best idea. It's almost self defense!
All the gear gets dropped at the house tomorrow for the ashp install starting Wednesday. Another form of self defense.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
I'm totally on board with that! Us lot on here were insulated from the "energy crisis" over the last few years. I admit that our DD went from £100 to £150 for a while, it is now back to £100 and we're £250is in credit. But that does include fueling 2x EVs and I heard of people in much-smaller houses and no EV paying £450 a month!
A bit of preparedness goes a long way. And is comforting even if it isn't needed.

I think of this when I reflect on balcony solar. Power to the people.Stinsy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 1:31 pmI'm totally on board with that! Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Certainly is a scandal what we in the UK pay, but whats worse is soooooo many people dont seem prepared do anything about it other than moan when the big bills land.
Understand for many cash is tight, but just a small outlay on thing like PV makes a 'rolling snowball' type of difference over time and soon compounds up the savings (and comfort) benifits.
I just dont get why those that can seem reluctant to look past the here and now and act.
Im pizzled off enough with practically just paying the (rip off) standing charge!

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Agree with all you say, especially s/C. Even weirder that it can be worked from the other end via gap sealing and roll by roll loft insulation rather than front heavy PV costs. Then again, the 800W balcony kind of negates that. I genuinely believe there are differing levels of awareness in humanity. Exactly like a pyramid.resybaby wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 3:45 pm Certainly is a scandal what we in the UK pay, but whats worse is soooooo many people dont seem prepared do anything about it other than moan when the big bills land.
