You would not know it is cold here Joeboy.
House is toasty and warm with the ASHP doing its thing.
Cop is apparently down to 2.1, but that is yet again with a sub standard install yet to be fully tweaked.

And the temperature outside is cold!

That is great to see. A fair chance we'll be living that next weekend! Do you have a supplier in the NE for the insulated PB?

Been creeping about with my IR thermometer this morning and I knew we had a low performing bedroom with a gable end wall. 2 to 2.5 degs difference between that wall and adjacent walls. That's me up to 10 sheets of K118 kooltherm. Or 26 sqmtr of upgraded wall. Not doing this work until after Xmas but it will again give us a small step up in the home envelope. Funny thing is, I knew the trailing rooms. Just hadn't acted on it.

Anything is better than nothing as the saying goes so within the constraints of space cash and DIY I would say that will be a good improvement.

I dont Joe, sorry that was for our old house down south.
It is sometimes cheaper to buy the board and the plasterboard seperately though as long as its foil faced it will do the same job.
We have a similar kind of gable wall with stairs running up here. Its also been internally insulated and maybe in the same stuff. The wall is still cooler than the other walls, but compared the the uninsulated but under the stairs is about 3 degree warmer. We may add an extra layer under this at some point, the seams of the boards are showing as a darker colour in the plaster and the screw holes have handily all popped the plaster off so fairly easy job, just a pain to do.

In the midst of the remedial work on the ashp and everything else now. I had hoped to get a thread up about it, but we now need remedial work on the remedial work. 😡.
Once theyve gone, il sit down and write the horror story.

Watching this thread with interest though. Glad the cold snap is over for you whilst you are in between heating systems and best of luck with the install.

I forgot about them, Bridge of Don? Thanks, I'll go in past next week or so. Did find this online but it looks a bit gimmicky in advert.

We dared Storm Bert yesterday and had a run down to Crieff to collect Iggy. Queensferry crossing closed, heard that on radio and 2 lorries blocking the road South just North of Perth bridge. We got off before the bridge and went B roading to Perth looking for a charge point.

Got an Ionity & a coffee.

Brilliant wee car on collection, Perthshire had quite a lot of snow so Iggy had a test straightaway and passed 👌. Went out for a run this morning for No1 to familiarise himself and sure enough, Red Iggy coming the other way within 1 mile! Our orange Iggy is a 2017 with 17,500 miles on it. Absolutely mint. Yes it has genuinely done 2,000 miles pa. :D

ASHP works to continue tomorrow and once complete I'll nip down to Southampton to collect the Autosleeper.

Yesterday the sat nav on the I5 slung us onto a Pertshire B road on our way down which became 14 miles of increasingly worsening road conditions. In the end we were at a decent elevation and there was no tarmac to see or farmhouses. The I5 was offering to go tail happy if I went anywhere near the throttle. It did it though, snow mode engaged and driving with an eggshell between boot sole & pedal. I won't go out like that again. Gungho daftie in me has to be put to sleep, he's more a liability than benefit these quieter days...

SWMBO was freaking out from the backseat, I used it all as a teaching moment between me n No1 son in what we do as men when it gets a bit hairy. 8-) No point bricking it, he was excellent, top co-pilot, upbeat and game on moment by moment. Very proud of him.

No1's still not happy though that his EV is trashed.

Suzuki are bringing out their first full EV this year. If it's anything like Iggy it'll be worth a look.

Just chucking this out to the borg mind. I thought nearly 800 quid was a bit steep for 10 sheets of insulation backed commercial pb? Had a look this evening and going the extra bit of work sticking together & collecting & accepting a lower insulation value, I found this price. Both shown for comparison.

Until this evening I was unaware of the price or performance gap.

With a 10% discount it's this price. Does that seem reasonable?

How much difference in performance though?

I was looking at some of the kooltherm k118 37.5mm dot n dabbed for the garage that's been k-rend silicone rendered on the outside.

Couldn't believe the price of the k118

So was looking at similar thickness PIR and normal plasterboard, but didn't want to compromise too much on performance as will have no heating in the garage for now.

Couldn't be bothered with the added expense of studding out the walls, etc.
