Is the wind not blowin up your way ?

I suffered a minor set back yesterday when the Octopod informed me that they dont fit ASHP in North Wales at the moment - so no quote from them for the foreseeable. Hopefully by the time i finish collecting real time heating data they will have gotten around to our region.

Hah! It is at a dead stop. I really should take it down but it makes me joyful when it does spin. 12 milliamps you know, not to be sniffed at!

Octopod don't install up here either (yet). TBH, I'm glad I've got high levels of heatgeekery going on here. The fitters are really into it. I'll be paying extra for the upgrades below ground floor (10mm to 15mm copper plus insulated pipe sleeves). Happy to do that and know all the pipes have been deburred and swept 90's used for the bends. We'll see what it all adds up to for running Wattage & eventually SCOP.

There is very much a part of me that still stands amazed at the idea of heatpumps (even though we've got two working already) as well as the sad feeling for poorly spec'd and installed systems. A great thing brought low...

Swmbo has been excellent, taken herself out every day to distract from the goings on. :D

I contacted Octopus about getting a heat pump back at the beginning of May 2022, got another email middle of February 2023 saying we can install a heat pump for you this summer and as soon as they are ready they'd get back in touch...
You might have a while to collect that data.

In the same way that they have built a solar pv business out from their initial midlands start-up location, I wonder whether they are training people and expanding Heat Pumps out from a central base?

From their initial email:
When can I get my heat pump?
We're getting ready to start installing our heat pumps from April, when the government launches their new Boiler Upgrade Scheme. We hope to cover most of the country by the end of the year, but we'll be starting around Berkshire (that's where our heat pump centre and many of our engineers are based).

That’s a long trip! What’s the plan? Sleeper to London, cross Town, train to S’ton, drive back?

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)

Aberdeen to Gatwick flight 6.30 then train to Southampton via Clapham junction then on to Brockenhurst again by train to collect van.

Gonna stop at a pub motorhome stopover close to Droitwich in the afternoon and start the worklist with a pint or 4.

Head up to Blackpool on Sunday for a fish supper and then onwards to a wherever overnight stop. Onwards to Aberdeenshire for Monday and the ashp guys are returning Tuesday to Friday but hopefully won't need all that time.

No direct flight from Aberdeen to Southampton. Well, none that I saw! Imagine if there was....

The nearest I saw was one stop over at Dublin at 5hr and 47 minutes flight time I think was the total time and £256 of your hard earned cash IIRC.

£60 to Gatwick then train cost. £100 all in maybe if I'm lucky.

No1's EV is a write off. Strangely they are paying him £3,300 over what we paid for it.... :)

Sold on the Victron 150/60 solar charge controller too this morning. Nice fella.

It's up there! Turbines still not turning though Moxi.

The sulphur heart acts as a good visual screen, we'll see how it does with the cold air..
