Interestingly Octopus ONLY bid for 2 out of the 6 available slots, I wonder if they might still bid for the others if the window is still open. Octopus has 98 x the capacity volume offered compared with Hildebrand the only supplier which was accepted.

Octopus will struggle to engage at these low levels of cost because I think a lot of octopuses energy savings are due to people exporting. It's not going to be cost-effective for a lot of people to export at those low rates so octopus can't have a level of certainty of how much they can provide, which means that they need to bit higher and lock away a significant proportions of the savings to the NESO.

As I say: I'd be well up for little and often!
This should be aimed at the masses though not to the few with batteries and export tariffs.

We are also supposed to be going green according to this governments spoutings and this is promoting exactly the opposite.

We are now in session time and the current live leccy price is about 13p / kWh so thats the level which would have been accepted and was at between 9p and 15p / kWh by the only successful bidder. All 20p+ / kWh bids were rejected.

Octopus again only bid for 2 out of the 6 slots at 50p / kWh and were rejected, only one company in it again with accepted bids of 15p / kWh.

Obviously Octopus are not ready as they are not bidding seriously but we will get there by the end of the week as rest of the week looks difficult with negative energy surpluses as the wind inexorably declines. :?

Loss of load probability tomorrow is currently 0.6, i.e. more likely than not to have a brown out unless something is done. :?
Don't think I've ever seen it that bad.

Hmmmm, Octopus have now said they are going to ration the saving sessions by doing it regionally, so that folk will be part of some sessions but skip others. I don't mind more often with lower amounts but this is going to make it very hard to plan for a session.

The Info is now on the Octopus App.

Octopus chicken - now thats a new game !

joking aside Nowty am I correct in thinking these saving sessions are more important for you folk who export ? Given that I charge my batts in the wee small hours and then coast through the rest of the day on them I am assuming that I am already part of the low use brigade and therefore unable to assist much more than I already do ? Is that a fair assessment ?

The simple answer is yes.

There are two ways to make money out of the DFS, doing both will increase payouts even more.

1) Boosting your baseline during peak hours 4pm till 7pm using IOG cheapslot manipulation on the days there are no saving sessions. Even if you don't export you will get a reward for reducing your usage below your baseline.

2) By exporting during a saving session which gives you negative usage during a session.

Thanks for the clarification Nowty,

I'm still on octopus vanilla as the storms have put the additional duct work behind planned schedule and I still have my FITS and deemed export as its more useful to me with my set up. Happy enough to be treading lightly and using little and especially as today we are in full sun and the batteries dipped to 90 % before recharging back to 100% about thirty minutes ago! - lovely day.
