Next experiment: drop one of your DHW cycles!

I would go for one at the end of the cheap period and another mid afternoon.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

Temperatures are back down to 4 degs. I know this as I'm up at 4am again.prowling the house to check all is well (it is). :D

DHW hit it's mark again overnight. Now down to 1hr/20/30.

Daughterly is up from Edinburgh next week so that'll be the first dhw stress test.

EPC is being done this morning to send onward for ashp grant. :D

Started a little longer range planning with the glazing firm. Aiming to have final size survey done in New Year for 3g going in March 25. Doesn't seem that far away now! Three week turnaround from ordering to glazing being at Aberdeen warehouse.

It should work out well with the ashp grant money landing to knock on towards the 3g bill. Ripple money returning to pay the balance and then invest what's left over in Linconshire school PV and hopefully Edinburgh city PV when it is up and running on Energy4all site. Once per year cheque from each RE investment to fund Octopus account ot further RE projects. Looking forward to setting that up and just forgetting about it as we do with our other RE projects. 8-)

Just upped the curve from 0.25 to 0.3, destroyed the 30 min cop figure! Impressed with the speed of response of the system. This really is impressive stuff. We'll see what the flow temp goes up to.

A further wrinkle in ashp life. With the EV charging at minimumn, washing machine on and the low load of the ashp we are managing to export now to charge later.

It looks as if you’re just on the verge of it running low and slow without cycling…

EPC is in with a score of 114 points & band A. That'll do! :D

EPC sent onward to EST folk. Maybe mid Jan for the grant coming our way? :oO:

I have no real awareness whether this figure is just good or really excellent. It's more than double the Scottish average score of 59, that's sad. The bar being so low.

I will probably go for a a full one once the windows are in although the surveyor said they don't make that much difference to the score as we have reasonably recent 2g. :o i thought, followed by  then swiftly onto  where's the 7.5G pal?

I'm going for a self anointment of 'really excellent' with a soupcon of must try harder and apply oneself.. Now where did I hear that before? :D

underfloor insulation will bump you up further Joe.
Much like insulation, its the first bits that make the biggest difference then you have to go OTT to make a dent once you are at a higher level.

What i was shocked by when we sold, was that no one seemed bothered by a better EPC or solar existing in the property.
It did not move the needle on valuation at all.
The offers for our EPC B house with solar, were the same as houses with an EPC of E and no solar, despite the same layout in the same location, and very similar style and decor.

It may have changed now, with prices having drastically changed since october 22 when we finalised, but it was similar when we were looking to buy too.

I think most people dont even care about the EPC rating. Whereas it was THE main factor for us, with scope of easily improving if need be.
Even still our complicated roofline is not what i wanted, but we have the SE facing gable wall which will make up for it quite soon.
3.16kw Canadian solar. roof. 3kw solis G98 mcs
12kw midea ASHP
200l hot water
3152W RE, Whitelaw Brae
Octopus agile/outgoing fixed 15p

Planned;
Hybrid system
43kwh eve batteries, 3x16 280A
6-8+kw solar, DC connected.

location, type of house would be my filters not EPC I’m afraid.
I could easily improve a bad EPC, couldn’t move the house to a different location

No one cares a jot about running costs when they buy a house. Insulation, solar, and the rest add precisely zero to the value of a house.

Sure it SHOULD make a huge difference, it just doesn't.
