Have you checked your expansion vessel? If it isn;t pumped up correctly or isn't big enough then when the water in the system warms up it expands and a bit seeps out of the PRV, then when the system cools it sucks a bit of air in through the PRV.Joeboy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 5:03 pmAye on the air. You need to get that air in the system sorted out, decide what mode to run the heat pump in, set a heat curve and see what it's like over a longer period. Probably start off with a higher heat curve (don't want Mrs I feeling the cold ) and take it from there.
Like I said mine is set at inactive, no night setback and the heat curve at 0.4 (was at 0.35 before the cold weather arrived).

Haven't checked that. Tbh, if it keeps throwing data errors I'll get the installers back. Upcycled the front lounge skirting boards (ogee) via the part solar operated tablesaw to simple boards. All went in well along with some thin insulation sheet to match heights with existing floor.
Temperatures in that room are now absolutely excellent. Plastering tomorrow if floor cures ok overnight.
Managed a sub 30kWh day so far. Exporting at the moment too. It's January, right?
I like the idea that our 1.5kWh per day saved can be exported. Just another way to ensure that we work from as close to source in our RE as possible. Generated a couple of kWhs too off the PV.

Looks like hp system is learning, a much steadier temp this morning. Power use overnight lowest seen so far.

Strange how things can appear linked. Also as a caveat for buyers of HP's and their ancillary monitor systems.
"I have a level 3 HP monitoring system (order no *****) fitted at my home by Aberdeen Air Source. The system went live on 13th Dec 2024. The system has been bled and all air removed and is fitted with AAV's. We continue to see data error alarms when the dhw cycle is running, although only up to now on the 1.5hr cycle through the night. This morning we had a new wrinkle with data errors showing outside the dhw cycle. I.E, when the home heating was running. Since we woke this morning the COP and heat output values within the OEM software are blank. Energy used is present as is circuit temp.
I am assuming a component failure? I have power cycled the blue box and it has re established comms with my home network. No joy with heat output or cop. I am now running a boost HW cycle and there is a 30 min cop showing of 0.06, that's not right!
I am looking to get this sorted asap but I am aware that this is 3rd party equipment and Aberdeen Air Source are a small growing company with limited personnel and hours in the day. I wanted to raise this fault as early as possible so the system remains in warranty for repair. Where do we go from here?"
So the company who fitted it shouldn't really be on the hook for the repair/replacement? I think they should do the replacement and bill OEM for the hour rate to change it out?

That thought crossed my mind too. I found a tiny leak on a compression fitting earlier this morning, since topped up circuit. I'll run a Purge cycle then that's me kind of done for end user fault finding. Weirdly the meter kicked in again for cop & heat. We'll see what oem say...
They are cc'd in the mail along with Aberdeen Air Source. To be clear, the HP itself is absolutely fantastic but I feel slightly let down by the set up of the oem gear on install and potential to be caught in the middle for who fixes it. I'll update as we go. Hopefully a Purge and repressurise will get it done. Robbie suggested there might need to be another AAV installed close to the heat meter. I have no doubts it will be resolved but thought to highlight the potential gap between supplier of monitoring gear and installers for those going for an HP.
That set of 3 data errors hours after the dhw cycle this morning is a first.

Always a complication with things like this, be interesting to see what OEM come back with.

I know, I was a mechanic back the day, pattern.parts and all that.
OEM got back to me quickly,
"Looking at your data, I can see the heat meter is having issues reading the flow rate. This is often due to air in the system, but can be caused by a number of issues. Could you send over photos showing the indoor part of the heat pump installation, showing the:
location of heat meter and general pipework layout around the cylinder
Location of the automatic air valves (AAVs), I'm assuming the AAVS are open, little plastic screw is loose on top?
Pressure gauge showing the pressure in the system? This should be between 1-2 bar, keeping the pressure high around 2 bar should help with the air issue

Regardless of the air in system issue, we are running well. System has been running off PV for 4 hours today (11 to 3).
A combination of good outdoor temps, low flow rates at the HP, the sun being incrementally higher and improved insulation.
I swear that wall work has made a tangible difference to stabilising the house.
Still running in active with heat curve at 0.4.
