I'm not trolling, you're the one being abusive and rude - apologise for the bad language and we will park the disagreement - I didnt mean to upset you but I did read your comments as supporting the owner of the truck, when I asked you if that's what you meant you just got rude rather than explaining.

I'm sorry if you think I was trolling you but I wasnt and didnt mean anything other than trying to understand what you had said / inferred.

In reply to a post where I explained that there are legal methods of importing vehicles that aren't homologated to the UK and that sometimes modifications are required.

You then doubled down and refused to retract the statement. That's why I got pissy with you. I apologize for using language that isn't in the spirit of this forum. Hopefully you can better understand my perspective.

Accepted and I apologise again if you thought I was goading you but I wasn't I was just very confused because I accepted you statement that there are ways and means to bring cars in that are not up to UK regulatory standards - but this article clearly indicated that this person had tried to bring a vehicle in without recourse to any of the approved routes and so you saying slagging off etc was at odds with the article - at least in my mind.

Anyway - no real harm done, apologies also to other members / guest who may have been disquieted by our bashing heads together.

As for there needing to be more 7 seater SUV and crew cab vehicles in the BEV ranges - couldn't agree more, ideally on 800V DC configured batteries to allow for rapid charging as theres nothing more tedious than a thirty minute charge with 3 under 7's and 3 dogs in the car - but maybe thats another thread.

That does bring memories. My mum had a first edition mini, which my sister inherited. I recall the string pull door handles, and the rubber start button on the floor, and no synchro-mesh on the first and second gears.

With those massive 185's, did you have the little add-on wheel-arch flares?

And speaking of views out the window, my cousin built a Marcos Mantula kit car around 1990(ish), and I went with him for a quick test drive, before it was to go for the MOT and licensing checks. I remember we got stuck at a roundabout, because we were in the first lane, but couldn't go, as my cousin couldn't see over the front wing/bonnet of the Sierra next to us. Just looked it up, and the roof height is 1,150mm

My parents had an MGF for about 15 years - another tiny car in retrospect (apparently made from Metro parts) - I remember driving that with the roof down and being able to look underneath the trailers of trucks and all that.

The MG Cyberster would be its modern day equivalent I guess - 2 seater convertible sports car. Anyone know how big that is?

I used to drive a Citroen AX diesel (running on veg oil lol) back in the day. 70+ mpg

Thicker metal and more sturdy structure in a coke can.

Literally took your life in your hands driving that - death trap even compared to the other diddy cars of the day.

Yes Mart it needed the arch flares to keep the side windows free of spray in wet weather, I found out after several weeks that they also needed hub spacers otherwise the nuts would distort the drums when torqued up, I kept putting the wheels on trying the car for brake wobble taking the wheels off checking the drum for true checking the brakes and calipers bleeding the pistons etc etc even took the drums to a machine shop to be skimmed and they also told me that they were perfect and didn’t need it. Then I happened to meet another enthusiast who had mamber rims and he said straight away that I need 10 mm spacers and after that we were golden - the paint job was “saige brown” so it immediately got dumbed the flying turd - every Tuesday me and five other graduate engineers would climb in and drive from Sheffield city centre up to the campus at Totley and Dore.

Happy times
