Interesting update on the Infinity WEC prototype, if the costs are really cut by 85% then perhaps this will be a viable wave generator array ? Still in a harsh operating environment but we have deployed and managed marker buoys for centuries so the handling aspects of that are well understood, the turbine generator is equally simple and straightforward and in size terms something that can be routinely lifted and taken ashore / maintained aboard before redeployment - I would really like to see this system reach maturity and be deployed as another tool in the kit against global warming.

Wonder if, if it actually does work reliably and effectively, they could deploy them around existing offshore wind farms and make cost effective use of the offshore grid infrastructure?

Although I could imagine it would make sea navigation rather tricky?

Funnily enough Dan I pondered the same idea and I thought it would work if they located them between every other set of turbines so as to prove sufficient manoeuvring space for the work boats etc that frequent the offshore wind turbines.
