Re: ASHP & triple glazing
I've just moved the DHW to 10.30 to 12.00 to see if ambient daytime temp makes much difference in dropping the 24hr kWh consumption.
I am blown away by the consistent performance. Had a couple of 7.+ cop figures earlier today.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
I did start with my HW cycle during the cheap rate until I got my additional batteries then changed it to midday, easier on the HP when the ambient temp. is higher.
Yes it's nearly a year, my monitoring went online on 9th March and apart from the first week or so when I had a setback programmed during the night and a WC curve of 0.6 (too hot!) it has been on non-stop at either 0.35-0.40 WC curve.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
That's great to read. The in/out figures are hard to grasp although I can dial right into the whole house temp being even. That feels luxury/tremendous.Fintray wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 3:40 pmI did start with my HW cycle during the cheap rate until I got my additional batteries then changed it to midday, easier on the HP when the ambient temp. is higher.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
We are also looming forward to the 1st year figures. Of course I run wee scenarios in my mind. I was surprised by how quickly we got in line on the WBS and that 75% drop means I've got 8 to 10 years logs on standby!Andy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 2:24 pmYep, not that it's a competition. I'm 3.49 over the same period. It interesting how the GSHP and ASHP performance at temperatures is opposite. The GSHP will perform better in extreme cold but for example at the moment the ASHP significantly out performs the GSHP. It will be very interesting to see your data after a year is out. One day my HP will die and then I need to decide if I will stick in another GSHP or convert to an ASHP. With technological improvements it sounds like ASHP might be an easier option.
You are right in that it's not a competition as we have wildly varied properties, demand lifestyles and geographical location variance to name but a few.
I'll say I hope for a 50% drop in power bought and for parity let's say a 50% increase in income from the export contract jan to Dec 24/25 comparison. TBH, I'm a little indifferent as I know we are now in a good position for us. I'm not going to game it hard, but instead enjoy the temps. I very much like wandering downstairs to make a cuppa. Could be 3am, could be 7am, just nice

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Yes, it is amazing the difference it makes. When I moved to our current property I used to get up to go to work at 4am gibbering away. Insulation, fireplace blocked up made the first difference. Now we have the HP on all the time and the car preheats . We also haven't filled the woodstore since installing the HP and I really have no idea when we will fill it again. It's now a backup for power cuts. It is quite amazing the changes to habits these things have. Next time I may go for a slightly smaller HP and run the fire though with the current price of night electricity its cheaper to run the HP.Joeboy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 4:50 pm We are also looming forward to the 1st year figures. I'm guessing that your stove hot pots have reduced in number quite a bit and you are back to the kitchen.
Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Nice one Andy, especially the gibbering, big fan of that! Stove still gets a run when cooking but maybe for 6 hours across the late morning into evening all very low key rather that the 16hr full bore frenzies of yesterWinters.
