As the house is mostly unoccupied I thought I'd grab a picture of heat loss in Feb at around 2degs outdoor day temp and into minus overnight with 2G and crap doors. The loss is due to the dhw kicking in and heating going off. One dhw cycle 10.30 to 12.00. Heat curve set to 0.3 and senso at 18 degs, no set back. Weather has been mostly cloudy, little to no solar gain.

Looks like 0.5 to 0.7 deg loss across the 90 minutes.

About 0.35 to 0.4 deg loss per hour.

I'll try and remember to compare this next Feb when the home is unoccupied and all 3G is in along with new doors.

Feb 24 we bought 2.1MWh of power, in the first 10 days of Feb 25 we have bought 265kWh. I am hopeful to end the month with 1MWh not bought 🙃.

199kWh of that went to HP, the remaining 66kWh is No1 son and fridges etc. That's about a tenner a week to heat home & water...in February.

I think I could do with an upgrade beyond hive to track indoor temps!

Reading this article from Tado and their survey with the average UK loss being 0.6 deg per hour in broadly similar conditions I'm not that impressed with my 0.4 deg per hour figure. Must try harder!

I am hoping that the 28sqmtr of glazing plus doors is THE culprit in this. If not I'm stumped.

For anyone thinking on this, a decent thread.

Back up to two dhw cycles and it's running well, HC set at 0.3. Will increase to 0.35 tomorrow.

Once the 3G is in I'll balance the system as best as I can and then tweak the pump flow rate to get closer to a 5 deg drop. I think this means that there is yet more efficiency to be gained from the unit.

I should have done this before but here's a place marker for myself to keep an eye on low & slow working out.

Small details count. Final upgrade for front lounge after the insulation work (apart from a HUGE 3G window & cill) arrived at home today.

Replacements for the the bulb overhead light and the very, very last incandescent light bulbs in the house. Saves the old light unit going to landfill.

We're still over the road. Back tomorrow night. Any progress on the SH's? Iain (Fintray) raised a good point about length of run. I think the HP has been running for the full fortnight we've been away. Momentary figure looks like this.

About 250W PV still coming in. :)

Although to be fair, the 0.3 HC unassisted as I left it can't bring home up to 18degs. It languishes between 16.5 and 17.5 solar gain depending.

I'll knock it up to 0.4 tomorrow before we leave hotel and an hour or so of laid back wbs Thursday afternoon when we get back and we'll be 20 deg again before we know it. :D

No progress dealing with a fence that blew down the other week, so that’s taking the time at weekend. Hoping to get 1 fitted behind the TV unit soon, other 1 for summer house and the one with no feet feet in the garage in due course!

Yesterday looks like 0.5 deg loss over 90 minutes and I have more days like that than the 0.7 deg days in the two week test. Just shows how much the outdoor weather continues to impact the home.

I'm.going to claim 0.33 deg loss per hour on non solar gain, low temp days as the figure to beat. If nothing else it gives me something to focus on to beat.

Does it? Thanks Iain! Ill get one of those. Just heard back from KSM after a gentle polite "I'm back" prod. Coming round Saturday morning to final measure up for the big windows in rear lounge now that we know manufacturer can build them.

Under six weeks until 3G goes in! We are sitting at a cabana here in 27 degs talking about potential insulation problems when they rip windows out. SWMBO started that chat. :ugeek:
