JUST START ......
I started in 1996 ish .... bough a 30w pv panel , made a circit using zenner diode etc and used it to charge a rechargeable torch that otherwise sat on permanent mains trickle........
Then bought 60w BP panels @ >£300 each !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-used micro inverters ......... changed light bulbs for new fangled cfl's ..........
How times change.
PV soooooooooooo cheap -put 1,2 or 3 panels up use cheap chinese micro inverter.
Start a spreadsheet on consumption .......
Freezers on timeclocks ..........
i'll get my coat ....... :geek:
It really isn’t difficult, the savings are huge and immediate.

Sure there are companies that’ll invoice you £10k+ for a solar/battery install. But a 1kWp DIY garden shed project would be way under £500 if you get the bits off eBay.

HPs are similar, plenty of companies will charge you £10k+ for a full install but you can get an A2A that’ll do a big chunk of the work for £500.

Even lower than that a smartplug is a tenner, a roll of loft insulation is £30.

Like I say, it isn’t about money (for the vast majority), it is about mindset. Some people have a delayed gratification mindset, others don’t. Giving people excuses and crowing on about “privilege” helps no one.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
6x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (14.4kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

As part of the quest for extracting more juice from my panels, I am looking to mount the 2 Hoymiles feeding panels leaning on tyres at a very low angle onto an actual frame.
As part of this, a friend at work has 3d printed some panel securing mounts. Hope to get the frame built shortly.
Printed in UV resistant material and reinforced innards.
