For standard domestic stuff only incoming services, such as water, gas, oil, structural steel need a main bind direct back to the consumer unit, unless of course manufacturers instructions state otherwise

As long as the inverter is earthed from the supply/mains cable and it’s the right size of cable for the load/distance.

Ps might be better to get some plastic cable cleats over the battery conductors rather than metal all round band.

Don’t worry too much!

Thanks AGT...

Yeah I don't know why the installer used that metal one over the battery cables. Maybe didn't have any plastic ones big enough to fit over them.

I will try not to worry.... :FP: :xl:

Found some 10mm² earth cable:

Bolt to connect earth to inverter is M3:

Bolt to connect earth to battery M6:

Now to find some suitable lugs/connectors for the damn things!
Hopefully the pneumatic crimping tool that I got for the 50mm² battery cable lugs can size down to crimp the smaller ones for the earth cable.

Does the resentment of cloud coverage ever go away in time??

If your mood is affected by the weather then getting solar panels can definitely exaggerate it!

Didn't realise the inverter throttled PV generation to what is needed to cope with the load of the house. :whako-teapot:

Thought there was a problem then as generation was lower than expected for a nice cold sunny day!

If you don't have batteries the idea is to use the time delay on your washing machine or hwt etc and aim to use the power when it's likely there. Good fun eh?

I think I'm going to look into getting solar assistant setup on this thing... Sunsynk app isn't the best. It only seems to send data every 10 mins at the moment.

Would have to get a raspberry pi from somewhere and hopefully it can be powered from inside the inverter, as didn't bother to get the installer to put a plug socket right next to the inverter. Nearest one is about 4ft away and can't be bothered having a cable dangling across the wall!
