Nice to have a hot shower in my own shower tonight, and after the day I had at work I really needed one.

I've had an email reply from the director, apologising, and saying they'll get it sorted out, he also offered a quite sizeable meal voucher for a local pub chain, however I don't think it would be prudent to accept at the moment, any compensation should be when they've actually finished the job, including the snagging.

I'd stand by on that. Log the hours that you and swmbo have lost due to the 4 day 2 apprentice route that the company thought was best for you the client.

At the end once you've went through your system test period open a discussion with the director on what he'd deem to be appropriate compensation for the hours logged plus stress.

Once that's settled, sign off on the job. Glad you got a shower. :xl:

It's nice to be nice but it's also nice to plan the job properly with your clients best outcome in mind. That would have been your most basic expectation? They've lost sight of that, thought of themselves and need to be reminded of who pays their wages.

Thanks, what do you mean by "I'd stand by on that"?

Good news, a new heat pump has been agreed, a power flush will be carried out, no trainees in sight, just the two experienced plumbers, one being the Heatgeek guy. Some pipework will be altered, the additional strainer fitted at the pump and the insulation done properly.

Scheduled in for 15 May, which I'll take off, and the wife is off on the Friday if they need the extra day. Will give me chance to catch up at work as well beforehand.

Glad theyve come forward with an acceptable solution and that youve had a hot shower in the meantime. Best of luck for smooth sailing from here on. :xl:

I've repurposed the old Shelly sensors off my boiler on to the primary flow and return, just to see what's going on.

It doesn't quite make sense, below is a hot water heating cycle, now I would expect some more separation in the flow and return temperatures when heating the tank. but there isn't really any and its completely different to Joe's hot water cycle.

Any thoughts?

I know it's only crude with the temperature sensors tucked in behind the insulation on the pipework in the utility room, but it's just odd how flow & return stays the same for almost an hour then the big seperation. We have lovely hot water so its clearly working.

Edit: To add the heat pump was only drawing power between 21:31 and 22:22, it then drops back to about 5w

Flow rate too high?

Systems not been commissioned yet due to all the problems.

I think maybe what you are seeing is after the set temp is reached, and the pump has stopped pumping or at least condensing.

The water will continue to circulate weakly via convection, and as it does , the return cools faster than the flow.
I saw similar when i gave a blast of heat to the house the other day. Not the same as heating the cylinder, but on mine you can see the seperation only started once the heatpump stopped and the flow dropped off.
My actual DHW cycles are greyed out either side of that on the bottom of the graph. Much more aligned with eachother.
