Having spent thirty plus years in the electricity metering industry I'm ashamed to say I was totally unaware of him until AGT introduced me to him via his post. I've struggled to understand why when he was to my mind a national hero and should have been included in the school curriculum for us to learn about along with all the other "Greats".
Just maybe then, the many Nimby's of today might have a better appreciation of pylons and renewable energy generation sites!

Although remote communities did get an electrical connection it would seem that some upgrading is required.

3.87kWp PV
10.24kWp PV SolarEdge system
Tesla Powerwall 2
MK2 PV router DHW diverter
Morso 5kW WBS
Vaillant AroTherm 10kW ASHP

I understand the frustration of the community, but it is also clear that neither the community nor Lesley Riddock have any grasp of economics.

Whilst the operating costs of hydro and wind are low, there is still the upfront capital cost of the plant and distribution network.

It seems that they expect someone else to pay for it. If mini grids can work on islands, why can’t one work on Applecross?

At least the reasons why it cannot should be explained.
