Dubai Lamps
Dubai Lamps
One of the more interesting big Clive videos.
Don't recall it being covered? pull the topic if it's a duplicate.

Re: Dubai Lamps
Fascinating explanation by Big Clive.
All LED lamps should be like these.

Re: Dubai Lamps
Yup, hurrah for coherent design.
When people say "ah yes but they've got to fail" nope, not really, brand perception is always important & leads to the increased likelihood of buying other product from a perceived reliable brand.
This needs stepping up in terms of "goolie kicking" within EU bureaucracy.

Re: Dubai Lamps
On a more immediate, practical note, I guess these are only in Edison Scew fittings... Might it pay to convert our light fittings if we could find someone to import them?

Re: Dubai Lamps
Well , they are an easy find on amazon.de and actually there are adapters too ( sure makes the overall fitting longer )AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 1:08 pm On a more immediate, practical note, I guess these are only in Edison Scew fittings... Re: Dubai Lamps
Big Clive actually uses the E14 to E27 adapter in that video.
That video can leave you exasperated but the 1W E14 bulb is only 200 Lumens whereas the 5.5W E14 Phillips in my chandelier produce 470 Lumens. I’d like something brighter but that seems to be be the tech limit for E14 LED candle bulbs.
This is the inside of a Maxim 6W 470 Lumen candle bulb, three of which failed within days at say 3 months old.

Re: Dubai Lamps
Whilst the adapters are now commonplace, I seem to recall them being deemed illegal to use within fittings a few years ago on "st elsewhere" forum, having mentioned them then.
Presumably nowt has changed?

There seems to be a half way house version available from Philips but I cannot find anywhere they are sold, not even via the links, "where to buy" !
