It goes without saying that the first easiest thing to do is to hunt out the extraneous power consumption around the house and eliminate those - it’s amazing what you can save just doing that.

Hi Moxi - ive already changed to a heat pump tumble drier, used 20kwh total in January which im pleased with, though we only use it on wet\non line days. Also looking to take out an electric heater. Im guessing these things have always been running but now the price per KWH is starting to go up im noticing more and more the cost of actually running the things. Also have a hot tub heated via a wood burning stove so only the main pumps are run of electric - that is currently empty until the weather warms up and hasnt been on since October.

That is the main stuff. You need to run a length of SWA from the panels to where the inverter/batteries will be in your house and obviously you need to build the mount. But that is a decent array that will put a big dent in your energy bills.

Where will the inverter / batteries be put. ? In the shed with the panels on the roof.
What size is the cable that feeds the shed with the Soladin inverter / panels on roof.
Does the shed cable connect into the house consumer unit on its own M.C.B.
It is worth making the panel mount system so that the panel angle can be easily changed at different times of the year. Quite easy if your into welding.

Anyway , might be worth while to take meter readings on a daily bases over a week , also might be good idea, to divide that as well in day time consumption and during the night .
Sure trying to shift energy consumption towards the day makes a lot of sense , especially if you go for a small Li based battery , that will be full in no time from spring to autumn
The sunless power consumption during evening , night and morning , should be considered , when it comes to battery sizing , would be a pitty to have breakfast in the morning battery empty no sun yet on the panels , and the toast comes from the grid
