No problems here in the NE Aberdeenshire. Can see minus 6 at night here. Stack is in unheated garage with insulated roller door.

Re: Pylontech batteries - temperature question!
Mine are in an uninsulated attic (well very insulated form the house! It get's cold in there!). I have seen the BMS report that max charge rate of 5A per battery in the very coldest conditions. This limits my stack to 1200W of charging. Not a problem from solar because I don't generally have 1200W spare to put in the batteries on those days! I charge from grid electric overnight but on those days the batteries charge at 5A (each) for the first 30 mins or so then revert to 25A per battery once the charge current has warmed them up.
Seeing as you're in the south-east, I wouldn't worry.

Re: Pylontech batteries - temperature question!
All my lithium batteries (including Pylontechs) make no noticeable heat, unlike my Lead Acid forklift cells which used to run 10 degrees above ambient.

Re: Pylontech batteries - temperature question!
Garage is attached and in extremes we will have frozen water bottles out there. Maybe 10 days of year? Maybe cast an eye over again and consider ventilation to keep the air dry?

Re: Pylontech batteries - temperature question!
I have some Growatt batteries and some Pylontech (temp install) in an unheated steel portal building with steel sheeting, uninsulated, the Growatts will not charge some days due to temperature but the Pylon have been ok.
85no 58mm solar thermal tubes, 28.5Kw PV, 3x Sunny Island 5048, 2795 Ah (135kWh) (c20) Rolls batteries 48v, 8kWh Growatt storage, 22 x US3000C Pylontech, Sofar ME3000's, Brosley wood burner and 250lt DHW
Re: Pylontech batteries - temperature question!
I get condensation on my steel sheets internally, it's the nature of the construction and keeping the air dry enough is impossible. They do do sheets that have an anti condensation internal coating to help stop it. I have also heard of a paint product being used as well to help stop it.

You can get rack heaters: https://www.canford.co.uk/CANFORD-RACK-HEATERS Sorry to link to the same company for racks on another thread - no personal gain but I have used them myself for things.Tinbum wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 7:51 pmI get condensation on my steel sheets internally, it's the nature of the construction and keeping the air dry enough is impossible. I see on the Victron forum, many people with Lithium batteries have heating matts, and now you can control relays from temperature sensors with a Victron GX system.
I've just got a tonne of lead with a fan purely for gas removal and keeping cool during charging, but they're not fussy to charging when they're cold like lithium are.
