I suppose having the knowledge that some chargeplace Scotland points are free I could take advantage, I won't though.

Oh man, I had no idea how fantastic this would make me feel. Tomorrow in amongst log splitting I'm going to test run the I5 granny charger on the 2kW rated offgrid home battery inverter. That is the final step in closing the 'grid collapses but we remain mobile and charging' scenario. TBH, if the I5 granny overdraws on the 2kW inverter I will likely just buy the required inverter and sell the current one. Too cool to be this close to the closed circle to falter at last step. :)

I suppose I could cheat on the day of doom and rewire the easeeone input to a 3 pin plug and limit the output if the app still works.

Just remember joe, "it's your wife's car" ...if you think any cheapie inverters or summat across the board are not up to scratch invest in better just in case it mix-handles voltage, ioniq mechanics won't be stretching as far as you, so if any delicate circuitry on it pop, likely they will be puzzled = down time potential whilst they ring around for advice.

But yeah, more experiments. 8-)

It's a full sine wave inverter and can do up to 4kW but continuous is rated at 2kW. We shall see....

Glad to see it's not a "dirty" inverter.

What are you saying Stan? :D

Well that was simple enough. Car is charging nicely off of the offgrid side of the system through the 10A granny pack. That is a true milestone reached. It's a beautiful day up here and all electrons transferred from stack to EV will be replaced in the stack via the sun. Just a reminder, it's February and I'm in Northern Scotland. 😊 Absolute Joy. Saw Brent trading North of $99 this morning. Poignant. I've always been an 'I'll decide' sort of person and what with the idiotic games being played in energy and politics I am SO glad to be able to make this leap of self faith. Anyway, thats the Dystopian nightmare scenario sorted, at least ill be mobile. I'm away to split more logs for Winter 22. :D

Charging the car via the inverter means you'll not be taking energy from the grid if the washer turns its heating element on at the same time as the car is charging. I'll also take out the bottleneck where you can fill the battery stack quicker than you can drain it.

I wonder what the efficiency of the inverter is while undertaking this work?

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

I gave a moments thought to efficiency earlier and dismissed. To be using this particular scenario its the 3rd and final fallback so it will be what it is. Axe in one hand to protect my assets and the other hand to flick the switch. ;)
