Is it getting to the point where he needs to talk to Ofgem yet?
Re: Wrong Address for Meter on Moving House
Probably, I asked him to at least make an official complaint with EON but he's got a very well paid high pressure job and I get the impression its not high on his list of priorities. Its the winter gas bill which would have been crippling but that part has been sorted.Countrypaul wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 5:47 pm Is it getting to the point where he needs to talk to Ofgem yet?

time to escalate it to a regulator?nowty wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 5:44 pm Just talked to my son in law and this has only been half sorted out nearly 2 months later. Their gas has been moved over to Octopus on their original fixed deal but the address for the leccy meter on the national database has still not been changed and Octopus are refusing to take them on until EON correct the national database even though they have both the MPAN and meter number.
EON have said another party have rejected their request to change the address in the national database but have not said why.
Meanwhile they are on the capped rate for leccy with EON and he does not think EON will ever sort this out.

Re: Wrong Address for Meter on Moving House
I agree. I've just had a result from the Ombudsman Service, and although their complaint resolution process is a bit slow, it isn't hard to do and overall I think they have done a pretty good job of investigating the case and reaching a conclusion. TBH, I'm impressed with the job they've done, and not just because they found in my favour. There are some pre-conditions before you can start a formal complaint, but I think you should be able to meet those. The link to the Ombudsman adjudication service is: https://www.ombudsman-services.org/
I'd give it a go, pretty painless, although it helps a great deal if you can prepare all documentary evidence you have into pdf files, as it's easier to just upload these than type stuff out. I "printed" all the emails I had (both received and sent) as pdfs and that seemed to make things go smoothly enough. As a guide, the whole process, from initial Ombudsman complaint to resolution took around 6 weeks.
Very easy to keep track of how things were progressing, they email links for you to log on and see your case file, complete with the evidence you've sent in and the evidence that the energy supplier has sent in. All told I probably spent a couple of hours, spread over about three sessions, sorting this out. Given that they awarded me a £75 compensation, on top of resolving the issue, that seems to be OK. Now that I'm retired I view about £37.50 an hour as reasonable!

Just got a txt from my Son In Law, he thinks the wrong address issue has finally been fixed in the national database so they should be able to go back onto their two year, dual fuel fixed deal with Octopus.
Its taken almost 3 months to sort out.

Glad he got there. I am about a month in to the excruciating process of having one meter removed and the other changed to a smart meter through Octopus. Total PITA.

Re: Wrong Address for Meter on Moving House
I got the final confirmation at the weekend from my Son In Law that they are now fully back onto their dual fuel 2 year fixed deal with Octopus.
They also got £10 compensation from EON for taking so long in correcting the wrong address on their leccy account but that does not even cover them for the increased standing charge part of their bill.
20p+ extra per day for 90 days = £18+.

Re: Wrong Address for Meter on Moving House
tell them you charge £50 per hour for pursuing & correcting what they should have been on top of, + the shortfall , ..and simply tell them to do better wit h regards to the aggravation in uncertain times ..blah blah blah.
£10 is pish!
means your complaint is not being taken seriously!
